Hawaii Agriculture Conference planned on Oahu

More than 400 participants are expected for the Hawaii Agriculture Conference, the premier all-agriculture conference in the state. Hosted by the Agricultural Leadership Foundation of Hawaii, the event will take place Aug. 29, 30 at the Hawaii Convention Center on Oahu.

Registration and info: hiagconference.org. Registration is $250 through July 15, and then increases to $300.

Meeting, installation of new officers at American Legion

The American Legion Kona Post 20 and Auxiliary will meet on July 12 at the Kona Elks Lodge, 74-5596 Pawai Place, in the Old Kona Industrial Area.

Socialization and fellowship start at 3:30 p.m. General membership meeting and installation of new officers begin at 4 p.m. Command Sgt. Maj. James Hussey, U.S. Army, retired, will relieve David Carlson as Post 20 Commander. Carlson will take on a position at the American Legion National Executive Committee level.

Dinner will be served after the meeting. Members should call David Carlson at 325-6491 or Kalani Hamm, Post 20 Auxiliary president at 329-7274 for dinner reservation.

Kailua-Kona Seniors to learn about fitness

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 12 at Hale Halawai.

Gary Jaster will speak about fitness. He will stress the importance of remaining fit regardless of age. A question and answer session will follow.

Kelly graduates Wheaton College

Wheaton College congratulates graduate Sarah Margaret Kelly.

Kelly, of Hawi, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with in interpersonal communication concentration and a minor in English.

DCCA in Kona on Thursday

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs will host a Business Action Center Day from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 13 at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Department of Research and Development on the second floor above the license bureau.

Walk-ins and appointments are welcome. For an appointment, call 323-4700. Staff are available for primary business consultations and the DCCA will be available to assist with state business registration, general excise tax applications, federal employer identification numbers and other business filings. There will also be information on other government requirements pertaining to businesses.
