Macadamia nut conference Saturday in Hilo

The Hawaii Macadamia Nut Association will hold its 50th annual Hawaii macadamia growers conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. An incorrect time was previously published.

Hospital cancer support group meets

The Kona Community Hospital Cancer Support Group will hold its monthly meeting from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting is held in Kona Community Hospital’s Administration Building in the first floor conference room 2.

Guest speaker Judy Kahler, oncology nurse, will discuss “Talking with Medical Professionals and Information Overload.” The support group helps patients cope with the emotional aspects of cancer by providing a safe place to share feelings and challenges.

Flower arranging class Friday

Hawaiian cultural practitioner Kaipo Ah Chong will offer his popular tropical flower arranging workshop in Volcano.

Explore color and texture in three dimensions with tropical flowers. Choose from an array of plants, such as anthuriums, orchids, ti leaves, ginger and heliconia. Attnendees will leave the workshop with their own arrangement. The workshop is from 1-3 p.m. Friday at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village. Cleaned tropical flowers will be provided and the class fee is $45 plus a $20 supply fee. Bring a pair of clippers.
