Arts chat, meeting Wednesday at DMAC

The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts will lead an Arts Chat and Strategic Planning Listening Session open to the public from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa.

The session will be followed by followed by the SFCA board of commissioners general meeting at 1 p.m.

At 9 a.m., art leaders will convene to share successes and challenges with local art makers, thinkers, and organizations on themes of collaboration, engagement and building stronger communities through the arts.

At 10:30 a.m., the State Foundation on Culture and Arts in collaboration with Pacific Policy Research Center will engage the public in a Strategic Planning Listening Session to collect broad public input on how the SFCA should prioritize its time, effort, and resources to help arts and culture flourish in Hawaii. The data collected will aid in the drafting of the SFCA strategic plan for 2019-23.

This collaboration is part of a larger effort by Donkey Mill Art Center to expand resources and information for the benefit of the community.

Seniors to attend free movie day

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will attend a movie day at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building A.

The movie, “Hidden Figures” will be shown for free to all seniors. The drama is the untold story of three African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

The group will not meet this week at Hale Halawai.
