Mike Donnelly named director of alumni relations

WAIMEA — Hawaii Preparatory Academy announced the appointment of Mike Donnelly as director of alumni relations last week. In his new position, he will lead local and regional alumni activities.

An HPA alumnus, Donnelly joined the school in 2014 as assistant director of admission after retiring from the U.S. Army with 27 years of service. As part of the HPA’s admission team, Donnelly was responsible for grades 9-12, focusing on the Hawaiian Islands and greater Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining HPA, he was communications advisor for the commander of U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter on Oahu. He previously held Army public affairs positions in Hawaii since 2004, and participated in several operational deployments. Donnelly earned his bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University.
