Samuel Kapule Ho Hop Ho

Samuel Kapule Ho Hop Ho, also known as Samuel Kapule Ho Chee, 88, of Honomu, died July 8, 2017, in Honomu. Born Sept. 25, 1928, in Pepeekeo, he was a retired tire service and repairman for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honomu and member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. on July 26, 2017, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call from 9-11 a.m. on July 27, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints in Honomu for an 11 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery (Mormon Section). The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by daughters, Sandra (Eldred) Kalehua, Alice (Allen) Enocencio, Pearl Ho Chee, Nadine Hughes, of Hilo, and Janice (Earl) Ho Chee, of Honomu, and Holly (Douglas) Du Pont, of Honolulu, Deborah Ho Chee; hanai son, Donald Barnes, of Hilo; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gretchen Kamai

Gretchen Lawaelani Margaret Kamai, 70, of Hilo, died July 18, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Honolulu.

Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. on July 26, 2017, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1373 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo for 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at noon at Veterans Cemetery No. 2.

She is survived by husband, Roy James Kamai Sr.; sons, Roy James Kamai Jr. and Bode Jarom Kamai; daughters, Rolene Spaulding, Bernice Lola Tenney, Rhonda Kamai-Kekela and Kimberly Desamito; brother, John Kaneakua; sisters, Lucinda Kovasic, Ivory Stone and Penny Makanani; 19 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Martha Yantis-Camara

Martha Yantis-Camara, of Pahoa, died June 28, 2017. She was born Jan. 28, 1949.

She is survived by husband, Raymond J. Camara; son, Justin Livesay, of Pahoa; daughter, Celeste Yantis, of Washington; and two granddaughters.
