James Santos
James Santos, also known as Virgin James Santos, 84, of Pahoa, died July 12, 2017, at his residence. Born May 13, 1933, in Haina, he was a retired U.S. Army Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, retired carpenter and member of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations.
Friends may at 9 a.m. on Aug. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. celebation of life. Urn committal to follow at the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2, section C, with military honors. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by daughters, Peggy (Clarence) LeClear, Virginia Willis and Cindy (Robert) Marr, of Lansing, Michigan; son, William Santos, of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Joseph (Bernice) Santos, of Honokaa; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Louis Nauman III
Louis William Nauman III, 90, of Keaau, died July 16, 2017, at his residence. Born Jan. 26, 1927, in East Orange, New Jersey, he was a retired clinical chemist and U.S. Army Korean War veteran.
No services are planned.
He is survived by wife, Rosemarie Nauman; son, Louis Nauman IV; and daughter, Marguerite Nauman.

Margaret Yamamoto
Margaret Kikue Yamamoto, 88, of Hilo and formerly of Naalehu, died July 5, 2017, at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Naalehu, she was retired from the state Department Of Social Services and was a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private family services were held. The family requests that koden (monetary gifts) and flowers be omitted.
She is survived by daughter, Carol (Alan) Kaneta, of Hilo; son, Bruce (Jaime Yamane) Yamamoto, of Honolulu; sisters, Lillian Aratani, of Pahala, and Terue Sumida, of Hilo; brothers, Frank Sasaki and Gilbert (Peggy) Sasaki, both of Honolulu; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeffrey Watson
Jeffrey Bryan Watson, 57, of Kailua-Kona, died July 13, 2017, at his residence. Born March 1, 1960, in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a fishing charter boat captain, a U.S. Navy veteran who served as an electronics technician and diver.

He is survived by wife, Sybil Watson, of Kailua-Kona; son, Nicholas Watson, of Kailua-Kona; and daughter, Michaela Watson, of Kailua-Kona; sister, Debbie Watson, of Columbia, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.

Akira Yamamoto
Akira Yamamoto, 92, of Volcano, died June 17, 2017, at his residence. Born in Hilo, he was a retired clerk and geologic field assistant with the USGS Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory, US Army Korean War veteran and a member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission, Volcano Lions Club and the Wednesday Golf Club.
Private services were held. The family requests that monetary donations (koden) be omitted.
He is survived by caregiver, Nicole Walker (Eric) Lichtl of Keaau; son, Steve (Loyce) Yamamoto, of Volcano; brother, George (Shizuko) Yamamoto, of Hilo; sisters, Teruko Fujioka, of Honolulu, and Kazue Hanabusa, of Palo Alto, California; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
