Seniors meet Wednesday

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Hale Halawai.

During the meeting, the members will celebrate National Coloring Book Day by participating in the stress relieving, relaxing craft. Along with this activity, members will participate in a demonstration in the art of origami. Supplies included.

Therapeutic riding program seeking volunteers

Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii’s Kona program is seeking volunteers to assist in their program for special needs riders.

Volunteers are needed to be horse leaders, sidewalkers, and for administrative and barn chores. The program operates from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Sundays at Horseplay Equestrian Center in Honalo (mauka of Kona Coffee Villas).

A new volunteer orientation and training will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. on Aug. 6 at Horseplay Equestrian Center. Light refreshments will be served following the training.

THH-Kona is a nonprofit organization that offers therapeutic riding and equine assisted educational and social activities to children, youth, and adults with special needs. They are a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International Premier Accredited center.
