NHERC hosts jobs fair Friday

A free job fair is slated from noon-4 p.m. on Friday at the North Hawaii Education and Research Center in Honokaa.

The free, family friendly fair will feature a variety of local community service providers and employers looking to hire in North and West Hawaii. Numerous community service providers will be in attendance offering assistance with immigration services, rat lungworm disease and Zika education, Medicare and Quest integration, vision screenings, TB testing, SNAP, veterans’ services, legal aid, and more.

The center is located at 45-539 Plumeria St.

Used motor oil collection sites open

Do-it-yourself used motor oil collection sites have been established at seven locations on the Big Island. They are open and accepting used motor oil at Lex Brodie’s Tire &Service Center in Hilo, Paauilo Village Service, Kealakehe High School Auto Shop, O’Reilly Auto Parts in Kailua-Kona, CarTow Kohala in Hawi, RPM Kawaihae and South Point U-Cart in Ocean View.

Back to school bash Saturday in Waikoloa

The Waikoloa Back to School Bash will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Waikoloa School.

Sponsored by Waikoloa PTSA, the event is open and free to the public and features a keiki health fair, HPD keiki IDs, book swap and various vendors. A $5 bracelet gets attendees unlimited waterslides, carnival games, cotton candy and popcorn.
