HONOLULU (AP) — A Honolulu street performer is asking the public to help reunite him with a stolen wheelchair that is crucial to his livelihood.
Raymond Tavita says his wheelchair was stolen from the laundry area of his home on July 25. The 23-year-old was born with a birth defect that makes it hard for him to get around without the wheelchair.
Tavita makes money as a street performer doing magic and card tricks, but says that without his wheelchair, he will mainly be confined to his home.
Tavita and his family held a news conference on Monday asking the public for help at state Rep. John Mizuno’s office. Mizuno invites anyone to call or bring in the wheelchair, no questions asked.
