Ethel Martinez

Ethel Doreen Martinez, 87, of Keaau, died July 22, 2017, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the Hilo Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. on Aug. 11 at Hilo Seventh Day Adventist Church for a 10:30 a.m. service. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. The family requests casual attire be worn and that flowers be omitted.

She is survived by husband, Manuel Martinez, of Keaau; sons, Leighton (Ann) Cabreira, of Kauai, and Joseph (Juanita) Cabreira, of Sarasota, Florida; daughters, Carolyn Kekaualua, of Hilo, and Gwendolyn Cabreira, of Keaau; sisters, Georgina Garrettson, of Washington, Frances Guetierrez, of Honolulu, and Hazel Stammen, of Florida; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert Lui

Albert Bray Keliipio Lui, 58, of Kailua-Kona, died July 20, 2017. Born Sept. 19, 1958, in Honolulu, he was a U.S. Army veteran and worked for Securitas and Kona U-Haul.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. on Aug. 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. service. Graveside services with military honors to follow at noon at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

He is survived by parents Raymond and Agnes Lui; son, Aaron Lui, of Aumsville, Oregon; daughter, Devon Lui, of Aumsville, Oregon; brothers, Aaron (Stacey) Lui, of Honolulu, and Richard Blomfield, of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Francine Lui, Nicole Lui, Francine Rieder and Caroline (Ronan) Damo-Fukushima, all of Kailua-Kona, and Jennifer (Kimo) Solmirin, of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and hanai children.

Harold Shibuya

Harold Hiromu Shibuya, 75, of Kurtistown, died June 19, 2017, in Austin, Texas. Born in Naalehu, he was retired from the former Hawaiian Telephone Co. and Electronics Hawaii, a U.S. Army veteran and member of Kurtistown Jodo Mission Board and Kurtistown 12-Mile Kumiai.

Services held.

He is survived by wife, June Shibuya, of Kurtistown; son, Chad (Jennifer) Shibuya, of Keaau; daughters, Roberta (Dean Newell) Shibuya, of Keaau, and Carrie (Nathan Knuth) Shibuya, of Austin, Texas; brothers, Franklin Shibuya, of Margate, Florida, Rogers Shibuya, of Pearl City, Oahu, and Floyd (Dorothy) Shibuya, of Honolulu; sister, Patsy Merritt, of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
