Edwin John De Luz, 84, of Paauilo, died July 10, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Jan. 8, 1933, in Paauilo, he was the founder, owner and manager for Edwin De Luz Trucking & Gravel, LLC, and Kohala Coast Concrete & Precast, LLC, an equipment operator; a retired area supervisor for the state Highways Division, rancher, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa and Ancient Order of Foresters Court Mauna Kea #8854, and a former member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
Friends may call at 8 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Churc in Honokaa for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo, Ilima Section. The family requests casual attire be worn.
He is survived by, daughter, Deborah (Kevin) Balog, of Paauilo; son, Gregory (Tanya) De Luz, of Paauilo; brother, Ernest De Luz ,of Paauilo; sister, Adeline Ifuki, of Oahu; grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alfreida Fumiko Fujita, 90, of Kailua-Kona, died July 16, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 18, 1926, in Holualoa, she was a retiredHawaiian Airlines reservation agent, Kimura Lauhala Shop co-owner, charter member of Kona Business and Professional Women’s Association, board member of the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, Kona Historical Society, Pulama Ia Kona Heritage Preservation Council, and member of Kona Japanese Civic Association, Daifukuji Soto Mission, Yamaguchi Kenjin Kai and Kailua Shita Kumiai.
Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 12 at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for an 11 a.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers should be omitted.

Hope Kealoha, formerly known as Samylyn Ua, 63, of Hilo, died July 6, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 4, 1953, in Hilo, she was a retired equipment operator for the Hawaii County Public Works Highways Division, a former security guard for Wackenhut and member of 3 Days 3 Nights Study Hall.

She is survived by companion, Elias Garcia Jr., of Hilo; children, Sherry Kealoha, of Kona, and Mercy (Ben) Garcia-Kealoha and Matthew Ua, both of Hilo; siblings, Noah Shepherd, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Christian Originel, David (Lorena) Ua, Hauoli (Seth) Freeman and Calavin (Janet) Crum Jr., all of Hilo; hanai sisters, Annie, Napua, Lisa and Ipo, all of Hilo; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mya Sein Paw u, 69, of Hilo, died July 30, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 27, 1947, in New York, he was the ownerof Hawaii’s Finest Snacks and worked for Heartland Payment Systems.

Born July 18, 1935, inKealakekua, she was a retired cocktail waitress for King Kamehameha’s Kona Hotel, professional hula dancer, formerbartender for Kona Inn Resort and member of Kohala Gospel of Salvation.
