Jonathan Lopez

Jonathan Lopez, 51, of Keaau, died Aug. 2, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born Dec. 19, 1965, in Honolulu.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. on Aug. 19 at Uncle Roberts Hale in Kalapana for a service.

He is survived by brothers, Jesse Lopez, Jodino Lopez, Reuben Dudoit and Randy Dudoit, all of Waianae, Oahu, Macelluis Dudoit, of Pahoa, and Curtis Dudoit, of Puna, sisters, Juanita Harwood, of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Julietta Lopez, of Las Vegas, Juliendra Brothers and Joreen Aduha, both of Pennsylvania, Jerilyn Lopez and Janell Lopez, both of Waianae, Oahu, Emma Parham, of Puna, and Rosalind Dudoit of Hilo.

Ruperto Sumoba

Ruperto Morales Sumoba, 82, of Hilo, died July 21, 2017, at Life Center of Hilo. Born Feb. 15, 1935, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a retired seed cutter for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co. in Papaikou and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. on Aug. 19 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 10 a.m. service. Burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section). The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome.

He is survived by wife, Octavia Sumoba, of Hilo; daughters, Edna (Romeo) Salom and Virgie (Neil) Gorospe, both of Hilo, and Jade Sumoba, of Maui; sons, Ruben (Emalinda) Sumoba, of San Jose, California, and Pancho (Jayvie), of Maui; sister, Helen (Cresencio) Sapla, of Hilo; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Guillermo Tolentino

Guillermo Alvarez Tolentino Sr., 91, of Hilo, died Aug. 9, 2017, at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation &Nursing Center. Born Feb. 10, 1926, in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he worked as a chemist for the plantations, a grocer, butcher, papaya and farmer and retired as a landscaper for the County of Hawaii, member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ainaola and Waikahi Wards, and an ordinance worker for the Kona Latter-day Saints Temple.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. on Aug. 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center for a noon service. The family requests casual attire be worn. Flowers are welcome. Burial to follow at Alae Cemetery (Mormon Section).

He is survived by wife, Lijjak Tolentino, of Hilo; daughters, Stephanie (Clyde) Imaizumi and Audrey (Weyland) Galinato, both of Hilo, Cynthia Whitney, of Buellton, California, and Mia (Ron) Hovind, of Newark, California, Roxanne Tolentino. of Puna, Lilia Belij, of Pahoa, and Alice (Carlos) Tolentino, of Keaau; sons, Phillip Tolentino, of Molokai, Will (Monalisa) Tolentino, of Bountiful, Utah, Guillermo Tolentino Jr. and Santos Tolentino, both of Keaau; hanai son, Ricky (Raureti) Raymond, of Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; 29 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Roy Wilson Sr.

Roy Clarence Wilson Sr., 96, of Hilo, died July 22, 2017, at his residence. Born Sept. 23, 1920, he was a retired foreman from Jas. W. Glover Ltd. and an oral historian.

Friends may all at 4 p.m. on Aug. 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. A private burial service is also planned. The family requests that casual attire be worn.

He is survived by son, Roy (Joan) Wilson Jr., of Kansas; daughters, Lola (Wilfred) Spencer, of Molokai, and Andrea (Dennis) Dolim, of Honolulu; brother, Arthur Wilson, of California; sisters, Virginia Peterson and Julia Ohta, both of California, and Mabel Kawamoto of Hilo; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Henry Pikini

Henry Kuapalahalaha Pikini, 88, of Keaau and formerly of Honolulu, died Aug. 6, 2017, at Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born March 15, 1929, in Honolulu, he was a retired deputy warden at the Halawa Correctional Facility, member of the Elks Club Lodge No. 616 and Knight of Pythias Mystic Lodge in Honolulu, and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Private services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by sons, William (Eddy) Pikini, of Keaau, and Paul (Lia) Pikini, of Colorado; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Gordon Costa

Gordon Wayne Costa, 59, of Hilo, died on Aug. 8, 2017, at his residence. He was born Jan. 23, 1958, in Hilo.

He is survived by mother, Geraldine Costa; brothers, Herman (Debra-Ann Kikau) Costa Jr., Reginald Costa and Ronnie Lee Costa, all of Hilo, sister; Bernadette (Leo Jr. Campbell) Costa, of Mountain View; numerous nieces and nephews.

Alfred Braithwaite

Alfred Theodore Braithwaite, 79, of Hilo, died July 23, 2017, at his residence. Born in Ferndale, Washington, he was a retired professor.

Private services were held.

He is survived by sons, David (Tanya) Braithwaite, of Lynden, Washington, and Daniel Braithwaite, of Hilo; daughters, Dorothy Braithwaite, of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Deborah (Johnny) Anderson, of Hilo; brothers, Edwin Braithwaite, of Cedarville, Ohio, and Gilbert (Pam) Braithwaite, of the mainland; sister, Mary (Fred) Karlson, of Ferndale, Washington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
