Where was design commission on judiciary complex?
Eh, Mark Van Pernis. Concerning your comments in the Aug. 10 edition of West Hawaii Today concerning the aesthetics on a proposed hotel on or around Henry Street. Where were you Mark Van Pernis and the Kailua Village Design Commission when it came time to make a decision on that monster of a Pyramid called the Kona Judiciary Complex. A supposedly public building that will now set the precedent on what is to become the look of Kona. Plus, the fact that it is being built on private land versus on government lands that is abundant in the area? A building that when built will belong to the land owners and not the people, that’s you and me, who are paying for it. Shame, shame on all who allowed that “giveaway” of the taxpayers money.
Anybody seen County Councilman Dru Kanuha around lately? If you see him ask him where he’s been hanging out. He sure does not make a pretense of being around and standing up for decisions that concern his constituents. Ask him why he does not take a stand on the Alii Highway issue that would help in lessening the congestion of our roads. Where is he on Magic Sands parking lot that has now been closed for over a month and still not showing any activity while causing a nuisance to the public.
For one who aspires to become a state Senator, he sure does not make any effort to build a track record …. does he? Mr. Kanuha is the representative of the most beleaguered area (Kealakekua to Palisades) of West Hawaii, but for some reason does not show any signs of leadership.
