Senior fitness classes start next week

Elderly Recreation Services is starting its senior fitness classes for anyone age 55 and older.

Senior fitness classes with Nanette will begin Tuesday at the Kona Aerials gym and Aug. 31 at Yano Hall. Classes are held 8:30-9:30 a.m. and are $10 for the session. Senior fitness classes work on balance, strength and stretching.

Students can sign up and pay the registration fee with the instructor on the first day of class.

Kailua-Kona Seniors plan movie day

The Kailua Kona-Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the West Hawaii Civic Center for a movie day.

The event is open to all seniors who will get to screen the movie, “The Founder,” a biographical drama starring Michael Keaton as business man Ray Kroc. This is the story of his creation of the McDonald’s fast food chain.

There will be no meeting at Hale Halawai this week.

September Hui Laulima meeting canceled

Because of the Labor Day holiday, the West Hawaii Hui Laulima will not meet on its regularly scheduled date on Sept. 1. The next meeting will be Oct. 6.
