Two people escaped unharmed from a structure fire in Hilo Friday Responders received an alarm regarding the fire on Kanoelani Street at about 5:15 p.m. Friday evening, according to a Hawaii County Fire Department news release.

Units arrived on the scene and found the fire confined to a bedroom of the single-story duplex and firefighters extinguished the fire and conducted overhaul without incident.

The fire was reported out shortly before 6:30 p.m.

Representatives from the Red Cross provided assistance to the home’s occupants. No injuries were reported.

The incident is under investigation, the news release stated.
