The following activities are scheduled this week for Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 12122, located behind Kona Locksmith off Kaiwi Street.

The $7 Friday meal will be tacos and desert with service from 5-7 p.m. The community is welcome and encouraged to join.

On Saturday, the Marine Corps League will conduct its monthly meeting beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The Post now opens on Mondays at 2 p.m. for the football game.

Walmart stores host free health screening

Walmart stores in Hilo and Kailua-Kona will be among 4,700 locations across the country to host Walmart Wellness Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

This free health screening event provides Hawaii residents an opportunity to learn valuable health information like:

• Blood glucose

• Blood pressure

• Body mass index

• Low-cost immunizations

• And in select locations, customers can also take advantage of free vision screenings.

Seed, LEGO programs set

Vernon Byrd will present the basics of aquaponics including plant selection, costs, and how to manage pests and diseases at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

There will be a Q and A session at the end of the presentation. Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona with the Community Seed Library, this program is free to the public.

Also, FOLK will be presenting a LEGO program for playing, exploring, and developing creativity for children (4-11 years old). The program is open to the first 20 children with adult caregivers.
