Akino Matsubara
Mrs. Akino Matsubara, 96, of Kealakekua, died Aug. 29, 2017, at a private care home. Born Nov. 11, 1920, in Holualoa, she was a housewife.
Private services were held.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Matsubara of Hilo and Carl (Ogi) Matsubara of Kealakekua; sisters, Annie Iwane and Nora Morihara, both of Honolulu; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Van Roberson
Van Berry Roberson, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 17, 2017, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Dec. 9, 1937, in Jasper, Florida, he was a retired U.S. Air Force Major and fighter pilot, the southern regional director for Century 21, and a member of the VFW and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Friends may call at noon on Sept. 26 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a service. Casual attire; flower leis welcome.
He is survived by wife, Carol Jacque Roberson of Kailua-Kona; son, Van (Chris) Roberson of Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, La Raine (Andrew) Williams of Hampton Cove, Alabama; brother, Doyle (Olivi) Roberson of Montgomery, Alabama; and three grandchildren.

Wilfred Poole
Wilfred “Bill” Maka Poole, 71, of Port Hadlock, Wash., died Aug. 18, 2017, at his home. Born May 12, 1946, in Honolulu, he proudly served in the United States Army Airborne from 1969-1975.
A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Oct. 28 at the Kawaihae Harbor, Kawaihae. Potluck to follow at LST landing.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lynn Gaikin-Poole; sisters, Mary (Chris) Ching and Sue (Mario) Ortiz; children, Billy Poole, Sheri Poole, Bobby (Bonnie) Poole, Paul Maka (Dean) Derby, Michael Keoki Poole and Elizabeth Keola Poole; step children, Mat (Phillis) Harding, Tony (Cassandra) Harding and Chris Harding; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Garold Enloe
Garold G. Enloe, M.D., 86, died from heart failure on Aug.24, 2017, at Judson Park Health Center, in Des Moines, Wash. Garold worked on the heart team in the prestigious Seattle Heart Center at Providence Hospital and he was chief of the anesthesiology department. He also practiced at Highline Hospital before re-marrying and moving to Kona in 1982. He and his wife Patricia, were active in the Kona First Christian Church before returning to Seattle in 2000.

Garold is survived by his wife, Patricia; brother, Dr. Marvin Enloe, Mo.; son, Brett; daughter, Erin Enloe and husband Robert Oliger; one grandson.
He was preceded in death by parents Irene (Remley) and Freeman Enloe, Mo.; brother, Bill; sister, Joyce; son, Ted, of Seattle.
Martin Cady
Martin “Marty” Howard Cady, 75, of Hilo, died Sept. 13, 2017, at his residence. Born Feb. 4, 1942, in Gloversville, NY, he was a vice president of information technology systems for Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corp., a member of the Hawaii 50th Club in Tacoma, Wash., and a Sergeant for the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by spouse, D. Pua Cady of Hilo; son, Sean (Detchen) Cady of North Carolina; two daughters, Melinda Sacco of Williamsville, NY and Malama (Troy) Kahauolopua of Hilo; sister, Joan Pagan of New Jersey; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
