Thelma Parker Library Count Week returns

Twice each year, Hawaii’s state libraries conduct Count Week. Statistics are taken from the number of patrons visiting or calling each library, the number of items checked in/out, and those simply moved and looked at, including newspapers and magazines. Up to 60 percent of each library’s budget is determined from these results.

At Waimea’s Thelma Parker Memorial Library, 60 volunteers are used. Their next Count Week will be Oct. 17-21. Volunteers can sign up for shifts of one hour or more at the library during open hours. Little training is needed.
