WAIKOLOA — This Thursday, The Hawaii Wildlife Center (HWC) will hold a donation drive in partnership with the Kings’ Shops Cultural Festival.

The HWC tent will be close to Macy’s near the owl statue. There, supplies will be collected for their facility, and items from their retail store will be sold to support the wildlife hospital. Informational materials will be available to share more about wildlife rescue, their rehabilitation work and how to get involved.

Wildlife work requires having all the necessary supplies on hand. Some everyday items residents can donate include 2-inch vet wraps, original Blue Dawn dish soap formula, paper towels and trifold paper towels, toilet paper, mouse bedding, size medium nitrile gloves, white sheets and towels, Max Blue Chlorine pool tabs, mosquito netting, hot glue sticks, unscented environmentally friendly HE laundry detergent, bleach, sponges, Simple Green disinfectant, contractor trash bags, scrub brushes, printer paper, garden gloves and gift cards from places like Petco, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot and Ace.

Monetary donations, both cash and credit card, can also be made that day for their larger wish list goals, including new tires for the wildlife rescue vehicle, recovery yard aviary repairs and building up their neighbor island bird transport fund.
