2 hospitalized following South Kohala crash

WAIMEA — Two people were hospitalized following a two-car crash Monday evening in South Kohala.

The head-on collision was reported at 5:08 p.m. near mile marker 8 on Highway 190, also known as Mamalahoa Highway, according to the Hawaii Fire Department. Two patients were transported in serious condition via ambulance to North Hawaii Community Hospital following the crash.

No additional information, including details on the vehicles and their direction of travel as well as whether there were any additional occupants in either vehicle, was available as of press time on Monday.
