Patricia Kurtz
Patricia Lindgren Kurtz, 91, died June 25, 2017. Born May 28, 1926 in Hilo, she was a well-known watercolor artist, writer, teacher and dedicated church member.

Paul Warner
Paul Douglas Warner, 63, of Hilo, died Sept. 14, 2017. Paul was born on Jan. 16, 1953, in Honolulu.
Service on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Latter day Saints 1373 Kilauea Street in Hilo. Friends may call at 9 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. service and burial at noon at Alae Cemetery.
He is survived by wife, Charmaine Nakaula; mother, Velda Pierce; father, Edwin Warner; brother Donnie Warner of Michigan; sister, Debra Bronson of Oregon.

Edward Asato
Edward Kaname Asato, 84, of Hilo, died Sept. 29, 2017, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kohala, he was a retired equipment engineer for AT&T, U.S. Army Korean War veteran, and a member of the Waiakea Uka Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Oct. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.
He is survived by wife, Shizue Asato; daughters, Leanne Maupin, Mitzi Asato; brother, Yoshio Asato; sister, Mildred Nakata; a grandson, nieces and nephews.

Valerie Andaya
Valerie “V.V.” Virginia Kalakia Andaya, 14, of Waimea, died Sept.20, 2017, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Waimea, she was a sophomore at Honokaa High School where she was a member of the student government and a vocalist in the Ensemble program.

Loreto Candelario
Loreto Escarlan Candelario, 80, of Honokaa, died Sept. 20, 2017, at home. Born on April 17, 1937, in Baro, Asingan, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a retired landscaper for the former Ritz-Carlton Mauna Lani and a former employee for Watanabe Floral in Waimea.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Oct. 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. A memorial service is at 10 a.m. Casual attire.
He is survived by, wife, Eleuteria “Ely” Candelario of Honokaa; children, Laureto (Nellie) Candelario of Honokaa, Alex (Evelyn) Candelario of Waimea, Ulysis (Dominga) Candelario of Honokaa, Remedios (Felix) Tabudlo of Honokaa, Edwin (Agustina) Candelario of Honokaa and Theody (Christina) Candelario of Honokaa; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
