Clydell Holland

Mr. Clydell Holland, 75, of Waikoloa, died Sept. 29, 2017, at his residence. Born Oct. 5, 1941, in Pine Bluff, Ark., he was vice president and trouble shooter of World Savings and Loan. He was a regional and district loan manager and a former federal agent for the government’s special assignments, and a licensed Realtor.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 21 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Church on Paniolo Drive across from Waikoloa Elementary School.

He is survived by his wife, Cassie Holland of Waikoloa.

Lois Kohara

Lois Emiko Kohara, 61, of Hilo, died Sept. 27, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, she worked for Y. Hata &Co., Harders, and Kandi’s Drive Inn, and was a member of Higashi Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. In lieu of monetary gifts, donations in her memory are suggested to Hospice of Hilo, 1011 Waianuenue Ave., Hilo, HI 96720.

She is survived by brothers, David (Donna) Kohara and Darrel (Mitzi) Kohara of Hilo; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandniece, grandnephews, and cousins.

Eunice Nagel

Eunice Sawako Kagimoto Dobbins Nagel, 78, of Waimea, Kauai died Oct. 12, 2017, at her home in Waimea. Born Oct. 10, 1939, in Hilo, she retired from Walmart.

Friends may visit from 9-10:45 a.m. Nov. 18 at Cross Net Ministries, 101 Aupuni street suite No. 147, the old Hilo Lagoon Hotel, for an 11 a.m. celebration of life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sawaichi and Akiyo Kagimoto; son, Thomas Kagimoto; and daughter, Evelyn Durant.

She is survived by daughters, Patricia (Mark) Isoshima; Pamela Dobbins; Libby (Thomas) Sales and Margaret (Mark) Dobbins, son, Benjamin Dobbins; brothers, Jerry (Judy) Kagimoto, Larry Kagimoto and Harry Moriwaki; sister, Karen Michal; one daughter-in-law, 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn Opiopio

Evelyn Marie Opiopio, 68, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 13, 2017, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born July 16, 1949, in Honolulu, she was an airport security guard for Securitas.

Celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. till noon Nov. 4 at Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club at Honokohau Boat Harbor.

She is survived by daughter, Ronda Opiopio of Waimanalo; sisters, Susan Rodrigues of Reno, Nev., Isabel Brighter of Kaneohe, Linda Davidson of Lahaina, Sara Ah Nee of Waipahu, Debra Comilang of Kahului; brother, Stephen Vieau of Duvall, Wash.; five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Tadashi Higuchi

Mr. Tadashi Higuchi, 82, of Hilo, died Oct. 4, 2017, at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born Dec. 17, 1934, in Hilo, he was retired from the Hawaii County Fire Department as a captain and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Buddhist Temple. He was also veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War era.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Oct. 27 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo followed by a 4 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire. No flowers.

He is survived by wife, Joyce Higuchi of Hilo; daughters, Penny (Gordon Mau) Yanagisawa of Hilo and Stacey (Layne) Ohama of Hilo; sister, Edith (George) Yamashita of Hilo; one sister-in-law; three grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Pio Miprano Jr

Pio Miprano Jr., 79, of Hilo, died Oct. 12, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Feb. 24, 1938, in Hilo, he was a retired C.N.A. for Hilo Medical Center and a retired field supervisor for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Company. He was also a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou.

Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo, followed by a 6 p.m. prayer service. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Marlene Miprano of Hilo; daughters, Charmaine (Leslie “Bozo”) Fukuhara of Hilo and Crystal (Ronnie Lodivero) Miprano of Keaau; son, Casey Miprano of Hilo; brother, Adam Miprano of Hilo; sister, Gloria De Jesus of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernardine Lee

Bernardine Ululani Gomez Lee, 78, of Hilo, died Oct. 10, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waimea, Kauai, she was a homemaker, owner of the former Hilo Diet Center and a member of Hale O Na Alii.

Friends may call 10–11 a.m. Oct. 26 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for an 11 a.m. prayer service. Aloha attire.

She is survived by husband, Wilbert W.S. Lee, Sr. of Hilo; daughters, Brenda Lee of Hilo, Bridgit (Michael) Rovner, M.D. of Kailua, Oahu, Col. Barbara (Jay Humelbaugh) Lee of Burke, Virginia; sons, Wilbert W.S. (Luida) Lee, Jr. of Kailua-Kona, Bradley (Marlys) Lee, M.D. of Kapolei; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Caroline Ferreira

Caroline Leilani Ferreira, 45, of Pahoa, died Oct. 3, 2017, at home. Born on June 29, 1972 in Hilo, she was a former standing guard for Aloha Security and a former janitor for Hilo International Airport. She was also a member of the Koa Puna Motorcycle Club.

Visitation will be held from 5:30-6 p.m. Oct. 26 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo followed by a 6 p.m. celebration of life and cremation to follow. Casual attire.

She is survived by daughter, Marcela Rodriguez; son, Lupe Rodriguez-Bello; husband, Lalo; mother, Phylis Flores; sister, Joelynn Ferreira; brother, Johnathan Flores; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
