Patrick Cain

Patrick “Pat” Henry Cain, 67, of Waimea, died Oct. 8, 2017, at his residence. Born April 4, 1950, in Honolulu, he was a plumber and fisherman.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Nov. 5 at Glenwood Park in Hilo. For information call 989-2002.

He is survived by daughters, Kimberly (Terry) Gray of California, Cassie (Taicee) Iremia of Honolulu, Tiare Bedell of Colorado, Minnie Cain, Carrie Kimmal, Amanda Kimmal; sons, Johnny Kimmal all of Maui; Jimmy (Billie Joe) Kimmal of Hilo; brother, Robert Ketterman of Kansas; Genny (Daniel Meyer) Cain of California, Imagene (Norman) Gonsalves of Kauai, Irmagene Kaohe of Honolulu, Sharon (Lorna) Perez of Waimea; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Barbara Sato

Barbara Tomoko Sato, 82, of Hilo, died May 3, 2017, at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a homemaker.

Private services were held. Family requests no cards, gifts or flowers.

She is survived by husband, Wayne Sato of Hilo; daughter, Darcy (Jachrystal) Fiero of Honolulu; brothers, Howard Shigeta and Wilfred Shigeta of Honolulu, Clarence (Eleanor) Shigeta of Gardena, Calif.; and granddaughters, Jacqueline Fiero and Jillian Fiero of Honolulu.

Joseph Withers

Joseph William Withers, 88, of Hilo, died Oct. 1, 2017, at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Chicago, Ill., he was a retired Chief Executive Officer for FKI Hardware Group and U.S. Army Korean War veteran.

Private services held in Hilo. Final services and committal in Grand Rapids, Michigan at Graceland Memorial Park and Mausoleum.

He is survived by wife, Phyllis Kitayama Withers of Hilo; son, Timothy (Patsy) Withers of Pepeekeo; daughter, Kelley (Robert) Holzwarth of Ada, Mich.; step-daughters, Liann, Lisa, and Sara Ebesugawa; numerous nieces and nephews.

Louis Lipka

Mr. Louis John Lipka, 62, of Ocean View, Hawaii, died October 14, 2017 at his residence.

Born in Howell, Michigan on August 25, 1955, he was a crane operator. He was a professional motorcycle racer, and a member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Private services will be held.

He is survived by his wife, Winnie Lipka of Ocean View; daughters, Erin Lipka of Hersey, Mich., Feather Huffman of Houghton Lake, Mich., and Riley Lipka of Dunedin, Fla.; stepson, Kevin Slate of Fresno, Calif.; stepdaughters, Alisha (Jason) Young of Ocean View, and Mindy (Brad) Marks of Fresno, Calif.; sisters, Lavina (Michael) Scalza of Fremont, Calif., Ruth (Marc) Guerrette of Elk Grove, Calif., and StephanieJo Turner of Ft. Carolyn Hiller

Carolyn Thomas Hiller, 88, of Waimea, died August 4 at her residence. Born September 2, 1928 in Washington DC, she was a homemaker, blue water sailor, retired realtor and life member of Hawaii Yacht Club.

Private service to be held in Kaneohe. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743.

She is survived by son, Douglas Hiller, MD; daughter, Page Hiller, PHD; sisters, Patricia Miller of Maryland, Barbara Smith of Tennessee, Sunny Hughes of Idaho; five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

Herbert Nakayama

Herbert Masami Nakayama, 78, of Hilo died Aug. 19 at the Straub Clinic &Hospital on Oahu.

Born in Hilo, he was a certified public accountant and proprietor of Herbert M. Nakayama, CPA and a member of Hawaii Taishin Kyokai. Private services held.
