Jeffrey Loo

Jeffrey “Jeff” L.M. Loo, 65, of Hilo died Oct. 31, 2017, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired fire rescue specialist with the Hawaii County Fire Department, owner of Wailuku Productions and a member of the Governing Board for The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Foundation.

Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Nov. 16 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for an 11 a.m. funeral. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Karen Loo of Hilo; son, Daniel (Kristy) Loo of Hilo; daughters, Rachel Hualani (Chuck Segawa) Loo of Hilo, Hannah Kalei Loo of Hilo; sisters, Dorothy Loo of California, Carolyn Loo of California, Rowena (Paul) Austria of Hilo; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Rose Olaso

Rose Ibarra Olaso, 82, died on Oct. 11, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, she was a Veteran of the United States Army and a retired waitress.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Nov. 16 for a eulogy/remembrance at 9:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

She is survived by husband, Donald Olaso; sons, Dominic (Cindy) Olaso of Oahu; Derek (Pearla) Olaso of Kona; Darin (Rosy) Olaso of Maui; Damon (Terri) Olaso of Hilo; sisters, Narcissa (Ronald) Van Pelt of Indiana; Lourdes Covey of Oklahoma; Elvira Oreskovich of Kansas; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

Donald Lewis Sr.

Donald Clayton Lewis Sr., 83 of Hawi died Oct. 12, 2017, with family by his side. Born in Erie, Penn., he served his country in the Marines and was a Korean War veteran who received several medals including The Distinguished Purple Heart and for Valor in Combat, and the Silver Star.

Family visitation from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 18 at St George’s Church, 41-1323 Kalanianaole Highway, Waimanalo, Oahu. A celebration of life and military honors will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 19 at Kaiona Beach Park, 41-475 Kalanianaole Highway, Waimanalo, Oahu.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Galagar) Lewis; daughters, Donna (Bud) Camara; Anna Naeole; Virginia “Bunny” (Derrick) Torralva; Brenda Lewis (Clyde Harbottle); sons, Donald (Tootsie) Lewis Jr.; Ronald Lewis, Michael Lewis, Robert (Danell) Lewis; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

James Warthman

James Michael Warthman, 51, of Waikoloa, died Oct. 28, 2017. Born July 22, 1966, in St. Joseph, Mo., he worked as a laborer in factory work, and attended Abundant Life Ministries in Waikoloa.

He is survived by mother, Linda (Richard) Jockisch of Rio Rancho, N.M.; brothers, John Warthman of St. Joseph, Mo.; Rick (April) Jockisch of Rio Rancho, N.M.; sisters, Karen Warthman of Waikoloa; Janie Warthman of St. Joseph, Mo.; and nine nieces and nephews.

Gil Unilongo

Gil Apolinario Unilongo, 60, of Hilo, died Oct. 14, 2017, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Honolulu. Born on Aug. 22, 1957, in Taboc, Libertad, Antique, Philippines, he was the proprietor for Marcy’s Variety Store in Hilo, and he also was a member of the New Hope Church in Hilo.

Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Nov. 13 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may call again on 8-10 a.m. Nov. 14 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Casual attire and flowers are welcomed; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Ilima Section).

He is survived by wife, Marcy Unilongo of Hilo; son, Marvin Gil P. Unilongo of Hilo; daughter, Vanessa P. Unilongo of Hilo; brothers, Abelard Unilongo, Rogelia Unilongo and Renato Unilongo of Philippines; sister, Efipania Galija of Philippines; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
