Friends of the Children of West Hawaii holding Christmas gift drive

Friends of the Children of West Hawaii (FCWH) is holding a Christmas Gift Drive now through Dec. 10. Working with community partner organizations, FCWH strives to bring Christmas to roughly 500 children in West Hawaii in Child Welfare Services who have been abused or neglected.

New unopened toys, athletic equipment, age appropriate electronics, clothing, gift cards, or cash donations can be dropped off at the Friends of the Children of West Hawaii office, 4Good Thrift in the old industrial area, 4Good Fashion in Kainaliu, Employment Experts, My Bar Kona, and the Waiohinu Transfer Station Thrift Store. Contributions can also be sent by mail to PO Box 9041, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745, or shipped by FedEx or UPS to 74-5599 Luhia St., Suite E4.

Kealakehe Project Grad rolls in fundraising season

The organizers of Kealakehe High School Project Grad are in full swing planning the May 2018 post-graduation event by kicking off their primary fundraising event, “Roll in the Holidays!”

The three-hour bowling party and silent auction will feature a 1950s theme and include pupu, beverages and prizes for spirit, best-dressed team, high score, and other fun competition. It will be held at 4 p.m. on Dec. 10 and is co-sponsored by KBXtreme Family Entertainment Center.

Registration is $350 for a team of up to six, limited lanes available.

Senate accepting applications for 2018 session

The Hawaii State Senate is accepting job applications for the upcoming 2018 legislative session.

Working at the Hawaii State Senate offers individuals an opportunity to work in a dynamic public service organization, work closely with elected officials and the public, and learn more about the legislative process.

Session jobs require a four- to six-month commitment, depending on the position. Most begin on Jan. 3 and end on the last day of the legislative session.

Senate employees working 20 hours or more per week are eligible for health insurance through the Hawaii Employer-Union Health Benefits Trust Fund.
