Marjorie Soto

Marjorie Soto, 74, of Pahoa, died Nov. 16 at a private care home. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired factory worker at Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co.

Friends may call 9-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Glad Tidings Church (116 Kapiolani St.); a celebration of her life will begin at 11. Cremation to follow. Casual attire.

Survived by husband, Stephen Soto of Pahoa; sons, Shane Soto of Miami, Florida, Primus Soto of Beaverton, Oregon; daughter-in-law, Janice Soto of Hilo; sisters, Beatrice Santiago of Las Vegas, Nevada, Estralita (Irwin) Molcilio of Keaau; brother, Manuel J. Feliciano of Keaau; brothers-in-law, John (Alvina) De Soto of Keaau, Lawrence (Winnie) De Soto of Waimanalo, Paul (Lillian) De Soto of Honolulu, Joe Rivera of Honolulu, Donald (Shirley) C. Soto of Ewa Beach, Robert (Marilyn) C. Soto of California, Ralph (Rose) C. Soto of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane “MJ” De Soto of Honolulu, Diane Soto of South Carolina; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Glenna Sundberg

Glenna Kirkland Sundberg, 82, of Keauhou, died November 12 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born December 10, 1934 in Anderson, South Carolina, she was a retired secretary for AAMCO Transmissions and a former sales associate for JC Penneys in Pennsylvania.

Private service to be held.

She is survived by daughter, Janet (Kenneth) Taylor of Oaks, Pennsylvania; son, Kirkland (Hita) Sundberg of Kailua Kona; sister, Jean (Howard) Carroll of Manchester, Tennessee; four grandchildren, a great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Mark Ater

Mark Fred (Fanakafifo’ole) Ater, 59, died Nov. 7, 2017. Born Dec. 3, 1957 in Honolulu, he worked in maintenance.

Celebration of life will be noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec 3 at Puhi Bay.

He is survived by Wife Anna K. Ater; Stepmother Judy Ater; Hanai Sons Kamalani Hutchinson, Koa Evans; Daughters Janna (Jaysen) Manuia; Brother Tom (Genny) Texeira; Sisters Jamie Ater (Dale Stenoien), Jessie (Dwayne) Vargas; Grandchildren, Alana, Iokua, Anela, Alohi, Iakona, 9 Brother in laws, 10 Sister in laws, Numerous Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, and Cousins.

Bruce Urabe

Bruce Kawika Toshio Urabe 40, passed away unexpectedly at Kaiser Permanente in Honolulu, HI on November 12, 2017. Bruce was born on October 7, 1977 in Hilo, HI to Benjamin and Margaret Urabe. Bruce graduated from Hilo High School in 1995.He worked at McDonald’s and Domino’s in Hilo. After moving to Kailua-Kona, Bruce began working for Avis Rental Car then for Lex’s Brodie’s. He was also one of the members of Ball and chin Fitness YouTube channel.

Celebration of life will be on Dec. 9, 2017 at Onekahakaha Beach Park Pavillion 6 &7 at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Bruce’s life. No flowers. Donations are welcomed.

Survived by his Mother Margaret Kuulei (Kamelamela) Urabe of Hilo; His Son Austin Kiyoshi Kawika Urabe, 13 of Hilo; his girlfriend Keani Jim of Hilo, HI. He is preceded in death by his Father, Benjamin Kiyoshi Urabe of Hilo, HI.

Bernice Kaupu

Mrs. Bernice “B.B.” Pilialoha Kaupu, age 62, of Keaukaha, Hilo, Hawaii, died Nov. 8, 2017, in the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii on March 29, 1955, and was a housewife.

Visitation will be held at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo, Hawaii on Dec. 2, 2017 from 4-5 p.m.; funeral service will begin at 5 p.m. with cremation to follow. Casual attire is requested.

She is survived by son, Sam (Lei) Kaupu, III of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Chassie (Dennis) Gabriel, Jr. of Keaukaha and Pilialoha Kaupu of Milolii; brothers, George (Linda) Kaeo of Hilo, Rudolph (Valerie) Kaeo of Captain Cook and Arnold Kaeo of Keaukaha; sister-in-law, Madalyn “Maddie” De Ponte Kaeo of Hilo; grandchildren, Justin, Lito (Vivianne), Joseph (Shayde), Deysha-lynn and Jade-lynn; great-grandchild, Kaimani Kaupu-Gabriel; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.
