‘Edible Art Cookbook’ author visiting Kona Stories

Suzanne Bearth, author of “The Edible Art Cookbook,” will be at Kona Stories Book Store on Saturday to share her unique love of art and edible goodies through recipes.

Bearth will be at the Keauhou Shopping Center store from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

She will also provide a sampling of Christmas cookies during the event.

The Edible Art Cookbook has been a creative work in progress for many years. Bearth hopes to share her unique love of art and edible goodies through the recipes contained within. Each recipe paired with her one-of-a-kind paintings will allow readers to get just a little taste of her combined artistic and culinary inspirations, friends, family and extensive travels. She is the former owner of Suzanne’s Bakeshop in Kailua-Kona.

FOLK book sale Saturday

The Friends of the Libraries, Kona holds its next book sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday on the Kailua-Kona Public Library lanai.

As always, volunteers are welcome and book donations are accepted at the library. Teachers will receive special discounts by showing their official school ID. Friends of the Libraries of Kona members receive a 20-percent discount.

Nene Readers meet Tuesday

The Nene Readers gather for their December meeting 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

Sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona, Nene Readers is a reading club at the Kailua-Kona Public Library for fourth, fifth and sixth graders hat focuses on reading, enjoying, analyzing, and discussing Nene Award-nominated books.

Registration is open until February.

Kona Stories fiction book club to gather

Kona Stories Book Store hosts a travel book club discussing “The Trouble with Goats and Sheep” by Joanna Cannon on Tuesday.

The group meets at 6:30 p.m. at the store. Book groups are free if books are purchased at Kona Stories, or a $5 donation is requested.
