Lori Sato

Lori Ann Leiko Sato, 37, of Papaaloa, died Dec. 2, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on July 24, 1980, in Honokaa, she worked at Ross and Budget Car Rental in Kona, as a care giver and a game attendant at Hilo Fun Factory. She also was a member of the Laupahoehoe Congregational Church.

Friends may call 4-6 p.m. Dec. 12 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. memorial service/celebration. Friends may call again 8-10 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Laupahoehoe Congregatonal Church for a 10 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire, flowers, and lei are welcomed.

She is survived by mother, Lei Sato of Papaaloa; brothers, Dale (Nohea) Sato and Don (Monica) Sato of Laupahoehoe; sister, Corilinn Sato of Las Vegas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Schayle Hanato-Wells

Mr. Schayle Kigen Napua Hanato-Wells, 29, of Honalo, died Nov. 8, 2017, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Nov. 22, 1987, in Honolulu, he was disabled, but was able to work at the following places, laborer at 4 Napua’s Auto Upholstery, farmer at Y.M. Hanato’s farm (Kigen’s Farm), McDonald’s, and as a fiberglass installer and as a laborer at Mother Earth Father Time Tree Trimming Company. He was a participant of the Special Olympics, a member of the Brain Injury Group, Hawaii Neurotrauma Group, Consumer Union Safe Patient Project, Medically Induced Trauma Support Services (MITSS), Daifukuji Soto Mission, Lifewater Church Healing prayer group, Department of Vocational Rehab, Arc of Kona, and volunteered for the elderly, and physically and mentally handicapped.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo for an 11 a.m. memorial service. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by his mother, Yvonne Mikie Hanato-Wells of Honalo; brothers, C. Renkio (Deja) Hanato-Wells, and R. Kitao (Kuulei) Hanato-Wells, all of Honalo; sister, Kyra (Eric) Wells-Sweatt of Washington; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Charlotte Melrose

Charlotte Miller Melrose, 89, of Kealakekua, died Nov. 27, 2017, at her residence. Born Dec. 18, 1927, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was a retired teacher for Seabury Hall on Maui, a travel agent, volunteer for Hospice of Kona and VASH, and a member of Christ Church Episcopal.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 14 at Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ Church Episcopal or Hospice of Kona.

She is survived by son, Kenneth (Maile) Melrose; daughter, Anne Melrose both of Kealakekua; two daughters-in-law; one sister-in-law; nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Loretta Gomes

Loretta Sentino Gomes, 78, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 10, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital surrounded by her family. Born Jan. 17, 1939, in Holualoa, she was a retired business owner of Kona Auto and Diesel Repair, and served as a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

A celebration of life will be held 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at Kona Imin Center in Holualoa. Luncheon to follow. Family requests casual attire be worn and flowers omitted.

She is survived by daughters, Rosemarie (Cy) Yamamoto, Pamela (Kenneth) Yonemura all of Kailua-Kona, Bernie (Wendell) Fujino, Sr. of Kealakekua; sons, Ronald Gomes, Jason Gomes; hanai son, Jimmy Bousche all of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Albert (Eileen) Serion of Honolulu, Henry (Mary) Serion of Hilo, John (Barbie) Sentino of Washington, Phillip (Loretta) Barro of Ka’u; sister, Florence (Raymond) Aviles of Montana; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
