James Conley

James “Chuck” Charles Conley, 81, of Keaau, died Nov. 9, 2017, at his home. Born Oct. 26, 1936, in Pawhuska, Okla., he was a retired English teacher and a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Miriam Conley; sons, Christopher (Eva) Conley and Chadwick Conley; grandson, Kenji Conley; granddaughter, Caitlin Conley.

Anthony Wise

Anthony “Tony” Liliu’okalani Wise, 63, of Puna, died Dec. 1, 2017, at Pohai Malama. Born Nov. 20, 1954, in Honolulu, he was an executive chef for Hawaii Naniloa Hotel, youth counselor for Salvation Army of Hilo and coach/founder of Puna Pistons Basketball Team.

Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Dec. 23 at 1784 Auwae Road in Hilo for an 11 a.m. celebration of life. Family requests aloha attire.

He is survived by spouse, Alice Wise of Hilo; daughter, Napua (Jamie) Rosehill of Hilo; two sons, Anthony (Ha’awina) Wise of Puna, and Jeremiah (Adelina) Wise of Puna; four sisters, Bernadette (John) Kolvasick of Baltimore, Edwina (Virgil) Kalaola of Kapolei, Moana (Jason) Agliam of Ewa, and Edwina Yoak of Galveston, Texas; four brothers, Edwin (Marilyn) Wise of Nanakuli, Travis (Jackie) Wise of Nanakuli, David (Sonya) Wise of Waimanalo, and Michael Burnett of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mildred Yoshida

Mildred Kumoye Yoshida, 93, died Nov. 28, 2017, at Hospice Of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Jan. 21, 1924, in Wahiawa, she was retired from Sears Roebuck.

Private services to be held in Honolulu with inurnment in the National Memorial Cemetery Of The Pacific (Punchbowl Cemetery).

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Adele) Yoshida of Honolulu, Clyde (Joanne) Yoshida of Hilo; sister, Katherine Higa of Honolulu; brother, Haruo Kawamoto of Honolulu; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tadao Yamasaki

Tadao “Polo” Yamasaki, 87, of Hilo, died Nov. 17, 2017, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Olaa, he was retired from AMFAC, a U.S. Army veteran, and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Hanae Yamasaki of Hilo; daughter, Lori (Lloyd) Hihara of Mililani, Oahu; brother, Yukio (Yoshiko) Yamasaki of Gardena, Calif.; and two granddaughters.

Mary Norris

Mary Florence Norris, 85, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 11, 2017, at her residence. Born June 29, 1932, in Blue Ridge, Ill., she was a nursing administrator.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, Thomas Norris of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Rose Glad of Ocean View, and Catherine Blackley of Kailua-Kona; son, James Norris of Long Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Elizabeth Naope

Elizabeth Mele (Allen) Naope, 85, of Keaau, died Dec. 9, 2017, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was a retired salesclerk.

Private family services held.

She is survived by her daughter, Paulyn Victorino of Maui; five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
