Dorothy Kauaula

Dorothy “Dee” Mae Kauaula, 73, of Keaau, died Dec. 6, 2017, at home. Born Dec. 10, 1943, in Naalehu, she was a production worker for Hawaiian Linen Supply and one of the originators of Maku’u Farmers Market, an ukulele teacher and member of Sure Foundation Church.

Visitation will be 8:30-10 a.m. Dec. 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo with a 10 a.m. funeral service. Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at Alae Cemetery. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Charles Kauaula Sr. of Honolulu; son, Clifford (Celito Galinato) Kauaula of Honolulu; brothers, Lawrence (Sheila) Cardines of Illinois, Allen Cardines Sr. of Honolulu, Patrick (Wanda) Cardines of Hilo and Gabriel (Sherry) Cardines of Tennessee; sisters, Wilma (Michael) Lancaster of Indiana and Ened (Harry) Batalona of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mercy Muller

Mercy Lehua Muller, 58, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 17, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1959, in Honaunau, she was the general manager for Ocean View Market and the former Kamigaki Market in Kealakekua, an admitting clerk at Kona Community Hospital, and a sales associate for the former Radio Shack in Kailua-Kona.

Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 30 at Yano Hall in Captain Cook. A celebration of life will be at noon. Casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by husband, Vernon Muller Sr., of Ocean View; son, Vernon (Danielle Tongpalan) Muller Jr., of Ocean View; daughters, Corinthia (Agalii) Samoa, and Ciara (Isaac Van-Epps Akina) Muller, all of Ocean View; mother, Margaret Basinga of Ocean View; brother, Wesley (Peggy) Basinga of Kealakekua; sisters, Dana Basinga of Ocean View, and Yvonne (Kalolo) Tuihalafatai of Honolulu, and Catherine (Hugh Ishii) Chua of Milolii; six grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Douglas Okamoto

Douglas K. Okamoto, 66, of Honolulu, died July 12, 2017, in Keaau.

Private service to be held.

He is survived by a sister, a brother, an aunt and several cousins.

Walter Collins

Walter Raymond Collins, 78, of Honaunau, died Dec. 23, 2017, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 7, 1939, in Indio, Calif., he was a retired psychotherapist.

Private service to be held.

He is survived by wife, Barbara Coffman of Honaunau; sons, David Collins of Nyak, N.Y., Matthew Collins of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Kathleen Temple of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and granddaughter, Aubrey Collins of Honaunau.
