Beginner’s Yoga will be held from 4-5 p.m. this Tuesday and Jan. 16 with Kiyomi Falcon. Yoga has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. It increases body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns and muscle strain, relaxes mind and body, centers attention, sharpens concentration and frees the spirit.

Caregiving Conversations will meet from 11 a.m.—noon this Wednesday, led by professional caregiver Karyn Clay. Whether you are a caregiver by heart, hire or relationship, join fellow caregivers in sharing stories, support and inspiration.

Ancient Yoga with Deanna Olivier will meet from 11 a.m.-noon this Wednesday and Jan. 10. This practice includes physical, mental and spiritual discipline for developing awareness, character and consciousness. It is an integrated system of exercise, breath control and meditation combining yoga postures with breathing techniques for a vigorous workout. Bring water, a yoga mat if you have one and a towel. Wear loose clothing.

Full Moon Gentle Yoga will be held from 4-5 p.m. this Wednesday and Jan. 31 with Danielle Kwami. This gentle, slow-flow yoga class helps release what no longer serves. Deep stretches relax and calm mind, body and spirit, while utilizing the power of the full moon to help let go and lighten loads. The class is appropriate for all experience levels, from new to advanced.

Zumba Gold in a chair will meet from 10:30-11 a.m. this Thursday and Jan. 18 with Renée Morinaka, a licensed Zumba instructor. The class is mainly for those who have mobility or balance issues, but still love to move and dance. It includes a warm up, dance party and cool down stretching to upbeat music of various genres. Activate effective everyday hand, arm, leg and body movements. Participants will sit during the entire class. Bring water, a towel and wear covered shoes.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers Classes will be held from 10 a.m.-noon each Monday beginning Jan. 8–Feb. 12. Sponsored by Hawaii Community Caregiver Network (HCCN), the free classes during the six-week series will give family caregivers self-care tools to reduce personal stress; change negative self-talk; communicate their needs to family members and health care or service providers; communicate more effectively in challenging situations; recognize messages in their emotions, deal with difficult feelings; and make tough caregiving decisions. Attendance is required at all six classes. A $25 deposit for course materials will be collected at the first class and refunded upon completion of the series with a copy of “The Caregiver Helpbook” at no charge. New Year’s Reset is a special program offered from 4-5:30 p.m. Jan. 9. Visiting psychologists from Japan’s Preventive Medicine Institute will share a safe, simple, self-care method to boost health, happiness and quality of life. Reset is three steps of movement, breath and mindfulness that gently restores body alignment, switches-off stress/trauma reactions and leaves participants feeling deeply connected to self and all of life. Natural, fun and time-efficient, this practice can be learned once and then applied as self-care for life, for free. Normal clothing is fine to wear.
