Coral not only thing harmed
It’s unfortunate that we, as individuals can do little to prevent global warming from melting the ice and increasing water temperatures around the world.
As each of us does our best by not using harmful sunscreens and following rules to protect our environment, we can help in small ways but it is up to the those in charge to take the big steps to protect our planet and its inhabitants from destruction.
Once the coral and sea creatures are gone, we will soon follow. Live life daily to your fullest and enjoy the present for we don’t know what tomorrow will bring.

Recycle not closing, just reducing
In response to the Jan. 4 letter to the editor by Mr. Tom Beach, the Waimea Reuse/Recycling Center at the Waimea transfer station and operated under county contract by Recycle Hawaii, a nonprofit community educational organization, is not closing but, as of Jan. 2, is reducing days and hours of operation to Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
We hope to resume full seven days a week service to the public sometime later this year.
