Mitsue Namihira

Mitsue “Doris” Namihira, 100, of Hilo, died Dec. 7, 2017 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Mountain View, she was retired from the former Food Fair Supermarket, a former volunteer instructor for the Kamana Senior Center exercise class, RSVP volunteer and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hui Okinawa and Naniakea Street Kumiai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by sons, Alben (Lynn) Namihira of Hilo, Herbert (Diane) Namihira of Kailua, Oahu; brother, Takemitsu (Tomeko) Akamine of Honolulu; sister, Kiyoko “Beatrice” Kaneshiro of Kailua, Oahu; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Haruno Go

Haruno Go, 95, of Keaau died Dec. 6, 2017 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. She was born in Kapoho and was a homemaker, a member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, and the Niigata Kenjin Kai.

Friends may call 10:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 13 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11:30 a.m. memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers.

She is survived by her sons, Clarence Go of Hilo and Desmond Go of Honolulu; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Leonora Kauwe

Leonora B. Medeiros Kauwe, 60, of Paradise Park, Hawaii, passed away Jan. 3, 2018 in Hilo. She was born on May 21, 1957, in Hilo, Hawaii. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Henry N. Kauwe of Paradise Park; son, Xavier Kauwe of Paradise Park; grandson, Xavier (Keicy) Kauwe, Sr. of Paradise Park; granddaughter, Jade Kauwe of Paradise Park; great-grandsons, Xavier Kauwe, Jr. and Nahinu Kauwe of Paradise Park; mother, Pearl Casbier of Florida; brothers, Jesse B. Medeiros, Jr. of Orchidland and Alan T. Medeiros of Vero Beach, Florida; numerous brothers in-law and sisters in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kazuo Ota

Kazuo Ota, 96, of Keopu, Hawaii, passed away Dec. 17, 2017. Born Dec. 4, 1921, he was a farmer, husband, and father, and now joins his beloved wife, Yukie and son, Gary.

He is survived by sons Ronald Ota and Isaac (Lorraine) Ota, of Honolulu; son Gene (Lydia) Ota of Kona; and daughter Lorraine (Wendell) Kawano of Kamuela along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Jan. 21, 2018, from 10-2 at the Royal Kona Resort. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of Kona.
