John Rodrigues, Sr

Mr. John Rodrigues, Sr., 81, of Hilo and Kawaihae, died Jan. 15, 2018, in the Hilo Medical Center. Born July 18, 1936, in Hilo, he retired from Big Island Honda Hilo as a sales and leasing consultant who received the Honda Motor Company President’s Award in 2004. He was the former athletic director of St. Joseph School and a member of Hilo Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Jan. 25 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo for a 6 p.m. funeral service. Graveside committal service and burial will be 10 a.m. Jan. 26 at Homelani Memorial Park in Hilo. Casual attire.

He is survived by wife, Lynette Leinaala Rodrigues of Hilo; son, John (Kim) Rodrigues, Jr. of Hilo; daughter, Johnalyn (Alton) Nosaka of Hilo; brother, Lawrence Rodrigues, Jr. of Pearl City, Oahu, Samson (Karen) Rodrigues of Kaneohe, Oahu, Edmund Rodrigues of Hilo and Glenn Rodrigues of Honolulu; sister, Cyrilla Makalena of Waimanalo, Oahu; three sisters-in-law; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and an aunt.

Rodney Ducosin, Sr.

Rodney “Rod” Trent Ducosin, Sr., 55, of Ocean View, died Jan. 16, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 10, 1962, in Honolulu, he was the founder and pastor of the Children’s Learning Center Sunday School.

He is survived by wife, Lisa Moniz; sons, Rodney Ducosin, Jr., Duke Ducosin, Drake Ducosin all of Ocean View; daughter, Leslie Ducosin of Iowa; brothers, Randy (Carol) Ducosin of Arizona, Russell (Sharon) Ducosin of Kaneohe; sister, Robin (Shad) Freeman of Ocean View; numerous nieces and nephews.

Harold Rice, Jr.

Harold F. Rice, Jr. died Jan. 5, 2018, at Maui Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 9, 1934, on Maui, he moved to the Big Island after he graduated from Cornell University and started his career in cattle ranching. He was the manager of three different ranches including Kahuku, Pu’u Wa’a Wa’a, Big Island and Princeville Ranch on Kauai.

Services will held 4 p.m. Feb. 9 at Makawao Cemetery and at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 at Pukanani Stables in Waimea. A celebration of life is planned in March at the Honokohau Harbor.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Rice; children McGrew Rice, Bonnie Rice, Morag Miranda, Sheena Golish and Lilah Ellis; stepdaughter, Holly Smith; hanai daughter, Sienna Rogers; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Audrey Anderson

Mrs. Audrey Mae Anderson, 68, of Naalehu, died Dec. 29, 2017, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Arlington County, Va., on July 10, 1949, she was a homemaker.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Jan. 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu for an 11 a.m. Mass. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Anderson of Naalehu; brother, James (Pat) Ware of Prescott, Ariz.; one daughter-in-law; one sister-in-law; one granddaughter.

Dorothy Bartolome

Dorothy Tapang Bartolome, 101, of Hilo, died Jan. 17, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Jan. 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire. Urn burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park in the Ilima Section.

She is survived by sons, Richard Tapang (Maile) Bartolome of Vancouver, Wash., and Gary J. (Beth) Bartolome of Hilo; daughter, Patricia Mae (Fred) Basilio of Hilo; sisters, Irene Ingano of Honolulu, Violet Dryman of Napa Valley, Calif., and Natalie Buza of Hilo; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nephews and nieces.
