Pautz named to Gonzaga dean’s list

Gharin Alexander Pautz, of Waimea, earned placement on the Gonzaga University Dean’s List for the 2017 fall semester. Students must earn a 3.5 to 3.84 grade-point average to be listed.

Gonzaga University is a humanistic, private Catholic University providing a Jesuit education to more than 7,500 students in Spokane, Washington.

AARP offers tax help

Beginning Feb. 1 and continuing through April 17, the AARP Foundation is providing free tax assistance and preparation through its Tax-Aide program.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, celebrating 50 years of service, is the nation’s largest free tax assistance and preparation service. Since its inception, the program has served more than 50 million taxpayers. The West Hawaii sites are:

• 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays at Yano Hall, 82-6156 Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook.

• Noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays at Catholic Charities, 73-5618 Maiau St., Ste B201, in Kailua-Kona. Appointments 319-3013, walk-ins after 2 p.m.

• 8 a.m. to noon Thursdays at Hale Halawai Community Center, 75-5760 Alii Drive.

• 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays at the Waimea Community Center, 65-1260 Kawaihae Road in Waimea. Appointment required 388-6645/885-4722.
