Melvin Lloyd McComber, 89, of South Point, Ka’u died Jan. 4, 2018, at his residence. Born in Kalihi Uka, Oahu, he was a retired truck driver and cattle rancher.

He is survived by daughter, Naomi (Glen) Gionson of Alaska, Naydeen (Richard) Walker of Washington, Mellaney Bean of Kailua-Kona, Maxine (David) Matsushima of Kailua-Kona; sons, Neal (Joanne) McComber of Kailua-Kona, Nash McComber of Idaho, Morrin (Laura) McComber of South Kona; brother, Donald (Meilani) McComber of Kiolakaa, Kau; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Lala Epenesa Jr.
Lala S. Epenesa Jr., 50, of Honokaa, died Jan. 4, 2018, at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born Feb. 10, 1967, in Honokaa, he was a supervisor for the County of Hawaii Parks Maintenance Department. He was also a member of the Hamakua Lions Club, and a coach for football, baseball and softball.
Services will be held at 11. a.m. Feb. 3 at the residence of Natalie Epenesa on Kalehua Road in Ahualoa, Honokaa. Look for the green and gold directional arrows. Family request casual attire, leis welcome.
Lala is survived by Natalie Epenesa of Honokaa; his three children, Amber Sui-Leiataua of Waimea, Sione Epenesa and Tehani Epenesa both of Honokaa; brothers, Presely (Christine) Epenesa of Kona, and Nathan Epenesa of Waimea; sisters, Luisa (Diamond) Beamer-Epenesa, Perenise (Lionel) Valdez both of Waimea, and Noella (Darryl) Pagud of Kohala; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Moses Takaki Jr.
Moses “Ani” Takaki Jr., 87, of Aiea, died Jan. 11, 2018, in Honolulu. Born in South Kona, he was a U.S. Army Korean War combat veteran and owned M. Takaki Painting.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. Feb. 23 at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary’s Downtown Chapel, 20 S. Kukui St., Honolulu, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be 2 p.m. at Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Highway in Kaneohe.
He was preceded in death by sons, Donald A. Yap and Miles K. Takaki.
He is survived by wife, Rosing “Rose” Takaki, son Tracy (Evelyn) Takaki; daughters, Pearl (Manuel) Lara, Nadine (Dylan) Grace, Deonalee Naboa; sisters, Rachel Kikumoto, Winona Elarinoff, Bernice (Liwai) Mitchell, Janet (Raymond) Quihano, Lana (Jose) Quedding; brothers, Henry Takaki, Kenneth Takaki, John (Cherie) Kiaha, Merwyn (Carol) Takaki, Elton Takaki, Sylvester Takaki; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Roy Asia
Roy Rogelio Asia, 72, of Honokaa died Jan. 7, 2018. Born on April 16, 194, he was a radio operator for the U.S. Navy, Hamakua Plantation Hanawai Worker and a truck driver, retired wrangler and tour driver for Waipio Valley Shuttle, Naalapa Stables, Waipio on Horseback and Waipio Ridge Stables, ranch hand for RK Farms.

Randall “Randy” Murrell Stingel, 74, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 22, 2017, at his residence. Born Jan. 6, 1944, in Chicago, he was a retired U.S. Air Force major, and a former property manager for Chaney Brooks and Company and Augustine Realty.
