Marie Smith

Marie Elizabeth Smith, 89, of Kalapana died Jan. 24, 2018, at her residence. Born in Sparsgursville, Ohio, she was a retired Realtor and homemaker.

A graveside service will take place at noon Feb. 6 at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

She is survived by son, Charles Silas Smith of Kalapana; daughters, Diana Low Pelfrey of Kalapana, Rose Marie O’Neill of Kalapana; five grandchildren, numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Lorelei Yokoyama

Mrs. Lorelei Tatsue Yokoyama, 85, of Holualoa, died Jan. 10, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born May 29, 1932, in Kealakekua, she was a high school librarian. She was the manager for the former K. Yokoyama Store and member of the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple.

Private services were held. No koden. Donations may be made to Hospice of Kona.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin Yokoyama of Holualoa, and Dean (Dayle) Yokoyama of Keopu; sister, Hope (Kenneth) Kudo of Kaneohe, Oahu; brother, Kei (Marlene) Otsuka of Petaluma, Calif.; granddaughters, Stephanie Yokoyama and Jennifer Yokoyama of Honolulu; numerous nieces and nephews.

Anne Kulik

Mrs. Anne Pashko Kulik, 89, of Kailua-Kona, and New Castle, Penn. died Jan. 4, 2018, in Kona. Born in Aug. 18, 1928, in New Castle, Penn., she was a telephone operator for AT&T. She was an artist and member of the West Hawaii Plein Air Painters, Hoyt Center Arts and Education Club, and Pioneers Club.

Memorial services will be held in New Castle, Penn.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Roseann) Kulik of New Castle, Penn.; daughters, Carole (Eugene) Kulik Lewis of Campbell, Calif., Amy (Peter) Guggenheimer of Vandergrift, Penn., Linda Altstadt of Vancouver, Wash.; sisters, Eva Mazur of New Castle, Penn., Dory Adamczyk of Hartsville, Ohio, Rose Pashko of Santa Ana, Calif., Carmel McCarron of Kailua-Kona, and Nancy McAnallen of New Castle, Penn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Errol Ishimine

Errol Makanani Ishimine, 72, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 31, 2017, at Queen’s Medical Center. Born July 18, 1945, in North Kohala, he was a retired Hawaii County Police lieutenant, a member of the County Parks and Recreation, RSVP and Kona Karaoke Club, a musician, golfer and U.S. Army veteran.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. Feb. 17 at Sacred Heart Church in Hawi. Mass is at 10 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Lei welcome. Condolences to the family may be sent to Wynona Palmer at P.O. Box 27, Kealakekua, HI 96750.

He is survived by companion, Wynona Palmer of Captain Cook; sons, Errol Kalai Ishimine, Scott Ishimine both of North Kohala, Larry Keohokapu Ishimine of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Marlene (Charles) Thurman of Florida, Shirlene (Jerry Brown) Conklin of California; stepsister, Gabrielle Makuakane of Honolulu; stepbrothers, Jeffrey Makuakane of Hilo, Timothy Makuakane of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Michael Zack

Michael James Zack, 71, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 22, 2018. Born Oct. 10, 1946, in Detroit, he worked as a graphic artist and is most known locally for his cigar box guitars and 50 years of harmonica playing.

A celebration of life service will be 1-3 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Kaulana at Kona’s Club House, 78-7110 Kaluna St. in Kailua-Kona. Please call 315-6640 for a gate code to enter. There will be another celebration sponsored by local musicians from 4-7 p.m. at Chillin’ on the Bay on Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. He is survived by spouse, Margaret “Marga” Zack of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Cara Zack-Gibson of Castle Rock, Wash.; brothers, Gerald Zack of Fort Gratiot, Mich.; Robert (Ann) Zack of Gresham, Ore.; David (Laura) Zack of Howell, Mich.; Patrick (Lori) Zack of Richmond, Mich.; sisters, Jean (Bill) Salkowski of Southfield, Mich.; Nancy (William) Burkart of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
