Shot fired at police Friday
Hawaii Island police are investigating a weapons incident that included a gunshot fired at a police officer Friday. They are seeking a 29-year-old Puna woman who may have information as to the identity of the suspect.
At 6 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the report of gunshots fired followed by a woman yelling in the Tiki Gardens subdivision adjacent to the Ainaloa subdivision in Puna. One of the responding officers located a male leaving the area on a dirt bike, which soon thereafter fell to the ground.
The male stood up, pointed a gun at the officer and fired a shot at the officer then ran into nearby bushes, the Hawaii Police Department said in a press release on the incident. The officer was not struck by the bullet and did not return fire. Despite a search for the suspect, he was not located nor was the female involved.
During the preliminary investigation, detectives learned that the female involved reportedly left in a vehicle shortly after the initial incident and may be identified as 29-year-old Angel Ano of Tiki Gardens. Police are trying to locate Ano to check on her welfare as well as speak to her about this incident.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Section are continuing this investigation classified as an attempted murder.

Mountain View man charged with several offenses
Hawaii Island police have charged a Mountain View man for several offenses following his recent release from jail on Jan. 25, after pleading guilty a week earlier to five felony offenses.
On Wednesday, police responded to a report of a man unconscious in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck on the roadway in the Hawaiian Acres Subdivision in Puna.
At 12:32 p.m., that day, officers arrested the a man identified as 19-year-old Kahekili Krause, after discovering that the truck was stolen from a business in the Shipman Industrial Park the previous weekend. Krause was also arrested on a warrant detectives secured that morning for a trespassing incident at a home in Kurtistown Feb. 3.
Krause was taken to the Hilo cellblock while investigators continued the investigation. Police later served a search warrant on the stolen truck and recovered two ice pipes and other evidence from within. He is being held in lieu of $63,000 pending his initial appearance on Monday in District Court.
At 9:30 a.m, Friday, police charged Krause with unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia, second-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, second-degree criminal trespass and two counts of habitual property crimes.
