Super American Circus tumbles into town

The Super American Circus 2018 Hawaii Tour, a modern one-ring circus, kicks off at the Hilo Civic Auditorium in Hilo on Feb. 27 and 28 and at Kealakehe High School in Kailua-Kona on March 2, 3, and 4.

Presented by RTG Entertainment, the circus is headlined by Bello Nock. Known as the “World’s Greatest Comic Daredevil,” Nock has been featured in the Guinness Book of World Records and was a finalist on the popular television show “America’s Got Talent.” His stunts in the past have included rappelling off of Madison Square Garden and hanging from a helicopter over the Statue of Liberty.

Every ticket sold will benefit Kama’aina Kids, a nonprofit organization that provides preschool programs, before and after school programs, day camps and other enrichment programs that serve nearly 9,700 children and their families daily in Hawaii.

The thrilling acts will include the slide for life, aerial hoop display, an elegant aerial display of “Davangie” performers — David and Angela Saucedo, rolla bolla, motorcycle high-wire, wheel of destiny, trampoline, transformation quick-change, juggling and more.

Pre-show activities include face painting, bounce houses, an obstacle course, a giant slide and photos with circus artists. Traditional treats such as snow cones, cotton candy and popcorn will be available.

Showtimes in Hilo are Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Showtimes in Kailua-Kona are March 2 at 7:30 p.m., March 3 at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and March 3 at 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $69.50 for the advanced general admission family pass, $28 for the advanced preferred seating for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. They can be purchased online at www.superamericancircus.com. General admission walk-up tickets are available for adults for $28 and children are $18.

Cornell “Tuffy” Nicholas will be the ringmaster for The Super American Circus. “Tuffy” comes from a family with an extensive circus history: his father “Count Nicholas” was the lead ringmaster extraordinaire of the traveling Ringling Brothers circus and his mother worked as a bear trainer. Born on the Sarasota, Florida stop of the circus, he spent much of his life on the road and has produced and managed more than 5,000 shows in the U.S. and around the world. “Tuffy” expresses his love for the circus, “The satisfaction knowing that you have created something that is not only successful, but also brings happiness to people from all around the world is very rewarding”.
