Roberta Leone

Roberta “Bobbi” Leone, 72 of Mountain View, died Jan. 18, 2018, in Hilo. She was a retired mental health consultant.

She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Leone of Maui, and her brother, Michael Moore of Michigan.

She is survived by son, Michael Leone of Maui; former husband, Anthony Leone of Maui; sister, Kathi Moore of Michigan; brother, Joseph Moore of Iowa; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends worldwide.

Seigo Shiigi

Seigo Shiigi, 91, of Hilo, died Jan. 17, 2018, Born in Pahoa, he was a retired account clerk for the former Hilo Ice &Cold Storage, owner of the former Shiigi Store in Pahoa, member of the Puna Hongwanji Mission and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Private serviced held. Family requests no flowers and no koden.

He is survived by wife, Dorothy Shiigi of Hilo; daughter, Karen (Jon) Hayashida of Hilo; brother, Richard Shiigi of Hilo; one grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Sumie Abe

Sumie Abe, 90, of Keaau died Jan. 21, 2018, at her residence. Born in Olaa, she was a retired bookkeeper for the former Nakamura Sales &Service.

She is survived by son, Marvin (Deborah) Abe of Sherwood, Ore.; brother, Roy (Lorraine) Nakamura of Honolulu; sisters, Shizue Fujiyama of Keaau, Alice Oie of Keaau; two grandchildren, one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Araujo

Marjorie Ann Araujo, 81, of Hilo, died Feb. 10, 2018, in Hilo. Born in Ookala, she was the co-founder of Araujo Farm Products &Hog Farm, Business Services Hawaii, and Tommy’s Game Cock Farm.

She is survived by two daughters, Darla (James) Boteilho and Debbie Tanielu; sister, Ellen Bradshaw; two brothers, Stanley Wilbur and Donald Wilbur; and two grandsons, James Boteilho and Ron Boteilho.

Bruce Ekings

Bruce Everett Ekings, 72, of Kurtistown, died Feb. 11, 2018. Born in 1945, in New Jersey, he was a loving husband and friend.

Richard Suder

Richard “Ricky” William Waiolama Suder, 67, of Hilo, died Jan. 23, 2018, at Hawaii Care Choices’ Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Papaaloa, he was a United States Tennis Association certified head coach for Laupahoehoe High School, customer service/service director for United Airlines, sales manager for Big Island Honda Hilo and Kona, Kona Nissan and Aiona Car Sales and member of Onomea Rangers Kupuna Softball Team.

Friends may call at 10 a.m. Feb. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Claire Bordner of Hilo; daughter, Rikki Haunani Suder of Kona; stepdaughter, Dana (John Pukini) Filoteo of Hilo; stepson, Kalai (Cheyanne Young) Filoteo of Hilo; hanai sons, Michael Apao of Hilo, James Apao of Honolulu; sisters, Kalanilehua Suder-Lum of West Virginia, Maxine Leinaala Suder-Wilcox of Waimea; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Arthur Hall

Arthur K. Hall, 64, of Kamuela, died Jan. 24, 2018, in Hilo. Born in 1953, in Hilo, he was a member of Sinbad Racing, Big Island Auto Club, Hawaii Drag Racing Team, and Art’s Toys.

Mardina Erry

Mardina Erry, of Honokaa, died Jan. 22, 2018. She was born in Chuuk, Micronesia.

Suzanne Kanavel-King

Mrs. Suzanne Marie Kanavel-King, 75, of Holualoa, died Nov. 21, 2017, at her residence. Born Aug. 26, 1942, in Santa Barbara, Calif., she was a registered nurse and worked in various California hospitals and volunteered in orphanages for children with HIV in Guatemala and Cambodia.

No local services are planned. A memorial service will be held on May 19 in Kodiak, Ala.

She is survived by her husband, Charles King of Holualoa; son, Nick Martinelli of Holualoa; daughter, Lisa (Tom) Connell of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; sister, Karen (Doug) Diefenderfer of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; hanai son, Oliver Twist King; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

Danny Pomerinke

Mr. Danny Lane Pomerinke, 63, of Ocean View, died Jan. 14, 2018, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born April 12, 1954, in Clarkston, Aston County, Wash., he was a retired mill worker for Seattle-Tacoma Box Company.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya Pomerinke of Ocean View; sons, Kyle (Nicki) Pomerinke, Shane Pomerinke, and Cody (Trista) Pomerinke, all of Puyallup, Wash.; daughters, Jenifer (Michael) Williams of Tacoma, Wash., and Michelle Pomerinke of Graham, Wash.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

A celebration of life will be held from 2-4 p.m. June 2 at Meridian Habitat Community Center, 14422 Meridian E Puyallup,Wash.

Guy Shepard

Guy B. Shepard, of Hilo died Dec. 12, 2017. Born April 25, 1942, in Fairmont, W.Va., he worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and later moved to Puna where he worked as an accountant. He was active in the Hawaii Green Party and the Hilo Orchid Society as well as serving as treasurer for several local community organizations.

A celebration of Guy’s life was held at Kehena Beach in Puna.

He is survived by his brother, sister, and a nephew.
