KAILUA-KONA — No driver was found following a single-car crash Sunday morning that downed a utility pole and closed Highway 180 for most of the day.

Hawaii Police Maj. Robert Wagner said the driver of a Waimea-bound truck apparently struck a utility pole on the mauka side of the highway south of Holualoa Elementary School.

The road was subsequently closed for utility repair work between the highway’s intersection with Hualalai and Palani Roads until about 5 p.m.
