Church hosting mini-bazaar fundraiser

Kauahaao Congregational Church in Waiohinu, Ka’u, will be having a fundraising mini-bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14 on the church grounds. The church is located on the corner of Mamalahoa Highway, Kamaoa Road and Pinao Street just above the Wong Yuen Store.

Individuals, schools, clubs, sports/athletic groups are invited to be a vendor at the flea market. The charge for a 10-by-10-foot space is $10. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tent, table and chairs, and if power is needed, a generator. Vendors can sell anything except hot foods/plate lunches.

Lunch with the mayor and his cabinet

The Focus Luncheon with Mayor Kim &County of Hawaii Leadership meet-and-greet will offer a unique opportunity for the local community to converse with county department heads in a casual setting.

Hosted by the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 15 at the Courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, attendees will have the opportunity to have lunch with a specific department as well as pose questions to the mayor and other cabinet heads.

General admission, $65; Chamber or Rotary member, $55; table of 8, $500; luncheon sponsor: $1,500.

Youth Paddling Program

Keahou Canoe Club’s youth program, for ages 12-18, will begin practicing on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3-5:30 p.m. starting March 5. Transportation to practices from Konawaena and Kealakehe schools is available.

The Special Events Keiki practices, for ages 8-11, will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2-5 p.m. starting March 13.
