Javier Villesca

Javier “V” Angel Villesca, 69, of Hilo formerly of East Chicago, Indiana, died on March 1, 2018, at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born on Aug. 2, 1948, in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, he was a 20-year retired staff sergeant of the U.S. Air Force. After retiring, he worked at HSI Security and Aloha Security Inc. in Hilo for many years before retiring.

Services were held.

Javier was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Gertrude Villesca.

He is survived by, wife, Il Son Villesca; children, Sony (Darilyn) Villesca, Jennifer (Russell Mendez) Villesca and Vanessa (Clarence Cottrell) Villesca; sisters, Estela (Jesus Alfredo) Ocana, Elsa (Jose Luis) Espinoza, Sylvia (Andres M.) Nunez and Thelma (Guillermo) Del Toro; brother, Vincent (Yolanda) Acevez; grandchildren, Aiden and Grace; host of other family and friends.

Antone De Luz III

Antone “Tony” De Luz III, 47, of Chandler, Ariz., formerly of Paauilo Hawaii, died Jan. 19, 2018, in Chandler, Ariz. He was the former owner of a Brake Masters and a Tire Pro shop in Apache Junction, Ariz., a union journeyman plumber, and a member of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce and Better Business Bureau.

Services were held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Gilbert, Ariz.

He is survived by son, Antone “Anthony” De Luz, IV and daughter, Erika De Luz, of Chandler Ariz. father, Antone De Luz Jr., brother Duane (Sheila) De Luz, sister, Elisa (Oscar) Dalmacio; brother in-law, Kevin (Claudine) McIver; nieces and nephews.

Yoshiko Kidani

Yoshiko Kidani, 91 of Paauilo, died Feb. 17, 2018, at home. She was born April 22, 1926, in Paauilo and was a seamstress.

Nicole Mense

Nicole Ocean Mense, 43, of Glenwood, died March 1, 2018. She was born in 1974 in California.

Meyer Goo

Mr. Meyer Goo, 96, of Kailua-Kona, died March 7, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 20, 1922, in Lahaina, Maui, he was an electronics technician. He was a member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, an active martial arts teacher, a highly decorated Coast Guard Auxiliary officer and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Memorial services will be held later.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Goo of Kailua-Kona.

Alfredo Nacis

Alfredo Nacis, 64, of Kea’au, died March 7 at his residence. Born in Laupahoehoe, he was the owner of Nacis Construction Corp,, and foreman of Sonomura Contracting and Constructors Hawaii Inc. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and Hui Nalu Honoli’i.

Ashes to be scattered at sea. Services held at the AJA Veterans Hall.

He is survived by spouse, Deborah Oda Nacis of Keaau; son, Kalsey (Kathy) Nacis Sr. of Keaau; daughters, Kandice Nacis and Teisha Nacis of Keaau; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; mother, Gladys Nacis of Paauilo; brothers, Vicente (Leona) Nacis of Honokaa, Hawaii, Vance (Sandra) Awa of Kailua-Kona, Franklin (Kalae Wheeler) Nacis of Kona, Tony (Cindy) Nacis of Papaaloa, John (Jessi) Nacis and Alberto (Debbie) Nacis of Arizona, Artemio (Marion) Nacis of Texas; hanai son, Charles (Vanessa) Stevens of Paauilo; hanai daughter, Charlette L. Solomon Perkins

Solomon James Perkins, 81, of Ocean View, Hawaii, died Feb. 15, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Kealakekua, Hawaii on Dec. 5, 1936, he was a self-employed building contractor. He was a boat builder, commercial fisherman and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

A scattering of his ashes will be held at 11 a.m. at the Honokohau Boat Harbor in Kailua-Kona; a celebration of life will follow at the mooring site of the fishing boat “Vixen.” The family requests casual attire, and loose flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his companion, Louise Nobriga of Ocean View; son, Paul Crawford of Seattle, WA; daughter, Rachael Llanes of Capt. Cook; caregiver, Diana Masuda of Ocean View; brothers, Charles (Pat) Perkins of Kaneohe, Oahu, Levi (Lynette) Perkins of Holualoa, William (Marcy) Perkins of Kailua-Kona, Robert Perkins of Kealakehe; 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Albert Wykoff Jr.

Albert Joseph Wykoff, Jr., 82, of Keaau, Hawaii, died March 9, 2018 at his home. Born in 1935 in Ohio, he was an administrator at the Central Union Church for 18 years and a bus driver tour guide for Polyneseian Adventures, Jack’s Tours, and Green Tours.

A visitation will be held at Hilo Baptist Church on March 21, 2018, 9-10 a.m. with a memorial service at 10.

He is survived by his wife, Ofelia Wykoff of Keaau; a son, Albert (Kendra) Wykoff III of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Phyllis Cooper of Cleveland, Ohio and Patricia (Russel) Vodges of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, Robert (Debbie) Wykoff of Cleveland, Ohio; and 3 grandchildren.

Vivian Ontai

Vivian Leolani Ontai, 65, of Holualoa, Hawaii, died Feb. 11, 2018 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Honolulu on November 9, 1952, she was an artist and lomi lomi practitioner. Visitation will be held today at 1 p.m. at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo, Hawaii. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. The family requests casual attire, and no flowers.

Kunimitsu “Kuni” Yoshiwa, 93, of Pepeekeo, died Feb. 19, 2018 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pahoa, he was retired from the University of Hawaii Agricultural Experiment Station as an agricultural research technician and a U.S. Army World War II veteran.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by wife, Hatsumi Yoshiwa of Pepeekeo; son, Reed Yoshiwa of Pepeekeo; daughter, Kyle (Marshall) Ando of Mililani, Oahu; sister, Sumiko Kai of Waipahu, Oahu; four grandchildren, Caitlyn, Brieann, Brandon and Devan; numerous nieces and nephews.

Else Makizuru

Else Ernestine Valeska Makizuru, 91, of Keaau, died March 5 at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was born in Germany and was a homemaker.

Private family services will be held.

She is survived by her sons, Henry (Neva) Makizuru of Volcano and Timothy (Rosemary) Makizuru of Kailua, Oahu; daughter, Sandra (John) Connick of Keaau; several sisters from Germany, three grandchildren, six great grandchildren; numerous nieces &nephews.
