Plenty of time to write letters

How does one “gain” a half hour of idle time every morning?

Try to get to to Hilo in the traffic caused by DOT installation of a traffic light and four lanes at Shower Drive. Also, traffic now backs up for a mile just trying to get into Pahoa every school morning through the smallest known roundabout in the history of mankind.

So yeah, you now have to leave an extra half hour early every day and buy an extra half tank of gas every week, to get your state-sanctioned and enforced half hour of idle time.

Other side of rental coin

I am an Airbnb host and live on the east side of the island. I have watched your paper and the Tribune publish several articles misrepresenting the hardworking, taxpaying owners of vacation rentals on this island.

You seem only interested in reporting exaggerated and inaccurate information that sounds sensational. As a vacation rental owner, I do not allow wild parties nor any kind of misbehavior on my property and my friends in the business don’t either. We work to maintain beautiful homes that are quiet and serine.

Please stop making us out as uncaring corporate figures from the mainland. Most of us only have one or two units and we do it to pay our mortgages. We are not big corporations with mini-hotels. We are your neighbors and we care about our neighborhoods and want everyone to profit from the tourism business — we are not greedy.

We add value to our neighborhoods and together we make a significant contribution to the Hawaii economy. We want our neighborhoods to be safe and beautiful. We are good neighbors because we care about the beauty of our properties and we care about our neighbors.

Wahine worth coverage

I have never written a letter to the editor before, but I have a problem with your sports department. You do a great job regarding March Madness, but you don’t even mention the women’s teams.

Why?

Killing is protection?

I suppose it was only a matter of time that a man who gutted the environmental protection agency would address world conservation of large animals by murdering them.

What better way to show you care than hacking off a body part and displaying it like you did something good?

As we descend into this administration’s policies that contradict the most fundamental conservation beliefs, we get to shine a light on what truly stupid people do to our environment.

How crazy is this?

Florida law prohibits you having a gun holding more than three shells while duck hunting, but allows you to buy multiple high capacity magazines (30 or so shells each) to go with your no-license/no-waiting period purchase of a semi-automatic rifle capable of firing hundreds of round in minutes.
