Students from Honokaa High, Kohala High, Waimea Middle and Waimea Elementary Schools joined tens of thousands of students across the country in a national walkout event at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Some held signs along Mamalahoa Highway or on campus, while others spent the 17 minutes in silence to honor the 17 students and staff killed in the February 14 shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
