Police investigating equipment theft in S. Kohala

KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police are investigating the theft of tree service equipment in South Kohala.

At 7:45 a.m. Friday, police responded to a report of a theft from a storage container located in the baseyard for Pacific Island Trees located just east of Puanuanu Place off of Mamalahoa Highway.

According to the Hawaii Police Department, the stolen equipment includes 11 Stihl brand chainsaws, four Stihl brand pole chainsaws, one Stihl brand backpack blower and a 5-gallon red plastic gas can.

Investigators determined that the incident occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. Friday.
