Hawaii community federal credit union names HOPE services as its triennial partner

KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union’s ongoing goal to be a helping hand to Hawaii Islanders in need continues with its naming of Hope Services Hawaii, Inc. (HOPE) as its 2018 – 2020 Triennial Social Responsibility (TSR) partner. HOPE currently operates 10 housing-based programs throughout Hawaii Island with a staff of nearly 60 employees, and has offices, emergency shelters and transitional housing in Hilo and Kailua-Kona. During the calendar year of 2017, HOPE provided services to 817 households, comprised of 1,454 people experiencing homelessness. HOPE was selected by HCFCU’S staff as the nonprofit to dedicate its annual Market Days fundraising. More than $73,000 was raised for Hawaii Island’s Food Bank, HCFCU’s previous partner.

“For more than 13 years, Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union has partnered with local organizations to support their missions to help our friends and neighbors who need it most,” said HCFCU President and CEO Tricia Buskirk in a press release. “HOPE is the only specialized service provider for homelessness, and those experiencing imminent homeless, on Hawaii Island. They make such a huge difference in the lives of so many residents.”
