Doris Aoki
Doris M. Aoki, 100, of Hilo, died April 2, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Riverside, Calif., and was a homemaker, a member of New Hope Church where she was also an original elder and head of its prayer group.
Friends may call from 2-3 p.m. April 15 at the New Hope Church in Hilo for a 3 p.m. funeral service. Private committal services at a later date. Casual attire, no flowers.
She is survived by her son, Stanley Aoki of Hilo; daughter, Alicia (David) Shinn of Lemoore, Calif.; brother, Charles Fujimoto of Riverside, Calif.; sisters, Lily Taka of Riverside, Calif., and Mable Zink of Riverside, Calif.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Charles Thomas Paiva, Jr.
Charles Thomas Paiva, Jr., 90, of Hilo, died March 9, 2018, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was born in Papaikou and was a retired equipment operator with the former Onomea Sugar Co., a commercial bus driver for numerous local companies and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his brother, Joseph “Boysie” Paiva of Papaikou; sisters, Rose (Vidal) Banaay of Wash., Violet Bonnell of Wash., Janet Simeno of California and Betty Holly of Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews.

Priscilla Sampaia
Priscilla Anita Sampaia, 84, of Hilo, died April 3, 2018. Born in Papaikou, she was retired from Hilo Hospital Laundry Department and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Kaumana Kumiai.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. April 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family request casual attire be worn.
She is survived by sons, Gilbert (Carol) Sampaia and Albert Sampaia of Hilo; daughter, Brandi (Tyler) Milare of Hilo; sisters, Loretta Feliciano of Hilo, Maureen Johnson of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Nola Helen Arle, 82, of Kailua-Kona, died March 19, 2018, at her residence. Born Nov. 3, 1935, in Manitowoc, Wisc., she was a retired bookkeeper.

Jerry “Kamapua’a” Rego, Jr., 52, of Ocean View, died March 15, 2018, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born Dec. 26, 1965, in Honolulu, he was a road maintenance worker for Triple K Trucking.

Rodney “Bobo” Padilla, 67, of Waimanalo, died March 25, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 26, 1950, in Honolulu, he was a laborer and handyman.

Thomas Mack Cawthon, PhD., 88, of Kailua-Kona, died March 24, 2018, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born Jan. 24, 1930, in Cannon, Ga., he was a chemist.
