Keep Puako Beautiful will host the beach cleanup beginning at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday at Puako Boat Ramp. Land, water and boat volunteers should bring anything they will need for personal comfort and safety. The Puako site for “Scoop it marine debris cleanup” may be one to two miles from the shore.

Cleanup supplies, sign in waivers, tally sheets, a jug of water and snacks will be provided. Kurt Leiber, a guest partner from Ocean Defenders, will loan several knives to boaters who do not have a good way to cut up the nets, and will share net gear recovery techniques.

Anyone participating in the potluck lunch should bring a dish and RSVP in advance.
