Christopher Kapua-Allison

Christopher Robert Kapua-Allison, 50, of Mountain View, died April 8. Born on May 6, 1967, in Honolulu, he was a police officer for the County of Hawaii, a member of Hui Makai Motor Cycle Club and the Blue Knights Motor Cycle Club and former officer for Department of Defense at Pearl Harbor.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 24 for a 10:30 a.m. service at The Church of Latter-Day Saints, 1373 Kilauea Ave. Hilo. Burial to follow at 1 p.m. Alae Cemetery, LDS section. He is survived by his son, Shannon Allison; daughters, Shannalei Allison and Shaniah Allison; mother, Tagatanu’u Kerisiano Ti’a Huihui; brother, Lawrence “Sut” Allison; sister, Kealoha “Aha” Tauaefa; three grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cresencio Panem

Cresencio Corpuz Panem, 94, of Pepeekeo, died April 7 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on June 15, 1923, in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he retired as a bulldozer operator for 17 years with Hilo Coast Processing Company.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. April 26 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Casual attire. A private urn burial will be at a later date

He is survived by wife, Filomena Panem of Pepeekeo; sons, Oscar (Alicia) Panem and Salvador (Joy) Panem of Hilo; daughter, Felina (Mark) Panem-Sakumoto of Hilo; seven grandchildren; one hanai grandchild; and four great-grandchildren.

Daniel Sales

Daniel Duane Sales, 44, of Mountain View, died on April 17, 2018, at Hilo Medical Center.

He is survived by father, Darrell Duane Sales; and mother, Sandra Scott of Oregon.

Juan-Diego Bernard

Juan-Diego “Chico” Bernard, 67, of Pepeekeo, died April 15, 2018, at home. Born on Dec. 17, 1950, in Loma Hoby, Primavera, Paraguay, he was a former truck driver for Eagle Heart in Oregon.

He is survived by son, Geronimo Bernard; sisters, Christina Bernard, Anita Adam, Holly Bernard, Elizabeth (Josu) De Unzueta and Irena Bernard; brothers, Don Rene (Rosalia) Bernard and Seth (Hana) Bernard; one uncle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wayne David Uglum

Wayne David Uglum, 66, of Keaau, died April 10, 2018, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Iowa, he worked in construction and was a professional musician.

Private services were held.

He is survived by his sons, Nathan Uglum of Keaau, Michael Furlong of Milwaukie, Ore., and James Hans of Puna; daughter, Zoe Hans of Honolulu; brother, Glenn (Marlys) Uglum of Iowa; sister, Paula (Roger) Webb of Iowa; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Carol Hendricks

Carol Ann Hendricks, 77, of Waimea, died April 17, 2018, at her residence. Born July 29, 1940, in San Diego, she was a retired real estate broker, founding member of Waimea Outdoor Circle and Ulu La’au Waimea Nature Park, member and former president of The Outdoor Circle.

A celebration of life will be held at noon May 5 at Ulu La’au Waimea Nature Park followed by a 1 p.m. service. Refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to Ulu La’au Waimea Nature Park or to North Hawaii Hospice. Condolences to the family may be sent to P.O. Box 915, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743. Joseph Martines

Joseph “Papa Joe”, “Josie” Martines, 83, of Ocean View, died April 7, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born March 19, 1935, in Kamalumalu, he was a retired custodian for Parks and Recreation, County of Hawaii.

Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. April 27, 2018 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua for a 9:30 a.m. Mass. Inurnment will be at noon at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Carvalho of Ocean View, Ramona Hughes of California, Diana Carvalho of Texas and Clarissa Cabreira of California; sons, Reggie (Kim) Carvalho of Mountain View, Raymond (Wilda) Carvalho, III, of California; brother, Julian (Suzie) martines of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Mona Maduli of Oahu, Patsy (Augustine) Torres of Oahu, and Angie Lawrence of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
